The last in the US was closed in the west of the country, in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix and Las Vegas. “It's about the future of the homeland”

– We had two downpours, so this movement walked during the day in waves, but just like almost everywhere else in the US, we have more than 30 percent of voters – said Consul in Washington Mikołaj Rychlik, reporting the course of voting in Washington.

On Saturday, Rychlik, in an interview with the reporter of “Facts” by TVN Marcin Wrona, asked about the expected attendance of voters, admitted: “It seems that we are going to a record.”

Poles voting in the USA recognize their participation in the vote as something obvious. – Well, why did I come to vote? – asked Anna Ostręga, an IT specialist who has been living in the United States for 40 years. “After all, every voice counts and it's about the future of the homeland, it's obvious,” the woman added.

Karolina and Andrzej from Warsaw, a couple visiting Washington during a short visit, entered the vote in their tourist plans in advance.

– I think it's something obvious. Participation in elections is such a natural element of life in society. Some way of participating in running this country. Probably the only one we really have – said Karolina, a translator by profession.

– For example, if you support your favorite team, you also do it on vacation. If your mother's birthday is, you call her regardless of whether you are on vacation – she added.

– We voted many times in different countries and when we planned holidays, we took into account, we checked where we would be on June the first, although we did not know that we were voting the day before – added her husband Andrzej.

Where did the most Poles vote?

As in all elections, this time also the most circuits and willing to vote were in the two largest Polish community clusters in the United States, in the vicinity of Chicago and New York, where almost 20,000 were enrolled in the list of voters. people. In the West of the USA, most people voted in San Francisco and in Los Angeles – over 1.4 thousand – in both cases it was a record.

The results will be announced only after voting in Poland. However, as Consul Rychlik assessed, record numbers of voters should not cause problems with counting votes and probably the results of the US commission will be one of the first to appear. Next to the United States, Poles also voted on Saturday in other Western hemisphere countries: Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
