Campaign summary of the week (April 27-4)

The first debate with the participation of all thirteen candidates, the controversial words of Grzegorz Braun, the meeting of Karol Nawrocki with Donald Trump and the picnic activities of politicians. Here are the election events of the past week in a nutshell.

1. “Super Express” debate

On April 28, a debate organized by “Super Express” took place in Warsaw. It was the first debate in this campaign, in which all 13 candidates participated. It lasted over 2.5 hours. In the first round, the candidates questioned each other, in the second they made free statements. Among the discussed topics were: abortion law, housing policy, migration and defense. During the debate Anstysemitic comments were falling from Grzegorz Braun's mouththat met with a sharp reaction Rafał Trzaskowski and Magdalena Biejat. The case went to the prosecutor's office.

2. Biejat-Hołownia debate

On April 30, a debate was held in Gdynia between Magdalena Biejat and Szymon Hołownia. At the beginning, the candidates asked each other for two questions, later there was time for eight questions from the room. Left and third road candidates discussed, among others, safety, marital equality or shortening the work week.

3. Wyborcza Majówka

At the May weekend, Karol Nawrocki went to the USA. Candidate PIS He met with President Donald Trump in the oval office. The White House published their joint photo. Earlier Nawrocki talked for a moment with the Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the representative of the House of Representatives Mik Johnson.

On May 1, there was a rally of Rafał Trzaskowski in Sopot, who was attended by his wife Małgorzata Trzaskowska, the prime minister Donald Tuskpresidents of Gdańsk and Sopot and Tri -City local government officials. The head of government, however, did not speak, which was interpreted by commentators as an element of tactics. The candidate KO thanked Szymon Hołownia and Magdalena Biejat for reaction to “shameful words” by Grzegorz Braun during Monday's debate. “Karol Nawrocki looked away,” he added.

Szymon Hołownia participated on May 2 in the City Park in Brzeziny near Łódź in a meeting on the occasion of Flag Day and the flag became the main motive for the speech of the Speaker of the Sejm. – Our flag is a symbol. White and red are extremely different colors, but both are on one flag, just as we are extremely different in Poland. White and red colors are so different, on the flag they are one. They contrast with each other as we differ in life. Our hearts beat on the left, on the right, but white and red connects us – he said.

Adrian Zandberg organized on May 1 in Bydgoszcz. The candidate together for president argued that “this is the last moment for us to start large investments, began a large, public nuclear energy program.” – If we do not do it, in 10 years the light will simply go out, and Poland will lose its ability to function in a normal economic function. We need stable, clean energy sources. We need at least eight nuclear blocks to make Poland keep moving forward. This will not be done by the market for politicians, no private entity. This must be done by a strong Poland, which is an ambitious state – argued a politician.

Magdalena Biejat on May 3 visited Zielona Góra. The left candidate said that it was time to eliminate Polish Waters. – The Constitution says that the authorities are to take care of environmental protection, and meanwhile Polish waters that rule PSLthey do nothing to take care of the environment – she said. – It is time to eliminate Polish water and give them part of their competence to local governments – she added.

Sławomir Menzten on May 3 appeared at a rally in Rypin. The confederation candidate assured that he would take care of Polish interests, not foreign. He announced that if he became the president of sealing borders and would not allow mass migrations to Poland. He added that he would not allow the Polish army to be sent to Ukraineand no Polish soldier will die for Donbass or Crimea. Mentzen also said that he would not sign any law that raises or complicates taxes, led to the rejection of green order, thanks to which electricity bills will fall and lower production costs will fall.

4. The election campaign has started in public media

From Saturday, May 3, the Committees of Thirteen Candidates competing in this year's presidential election can distribute electoral programs in public media free of charge: on Polish Television and Polish Radio. Spots will be broadcast for election silence – that is, until May 16.
