Jarosław Kaczyński said that a presidential candidate “must be young, tall, impressive, handsome”. How to find one? Arleta Zalewska, a reporter and journalist for “Fakty” TVN, said in the program “In the hallways” that an external team examines a number of factors that are to help select the ideal candidate. Interested candidates “are questioned about their past, families, financial problems, hooks”, but they are also examined what “trust, recognition, positive and negative traits” they inspire.
The PiS chairman, asked on Monday (26 August) in an interview with Radio Maryja about the list of his party's potential candidates in the presidential elections, said that it was “getting shorter and shorter”.
– It's hard for me to even imagine the model of this lady who would be this candidate. With a man, of course – he must be young, tall, impressive, handsome. Voters set these image requirements high. He must have a family. He must know English very well. It would be best if he knew two languages - he said Jaroslaw Kaczynskiwhen asked about the ideal candidate.

What does the “casting” for the PiS presidential candidate look like?
As Arleta Zalewska has established, PiS politicians are getting “consolation prizes”. – Elizabeth Witek she was put in this special team that interviews, interrogates candidates, checks research, collects it. And Beata Szydło, as I know, is one of those examined – said Zalewska in the program “W kuliarach”.
According to the journalist, the research is already underway and “has been commissioned to external companies because – as Jarosław Kaczyński said – he does not trust those who have done research in PiS so far, because they either have some relationship with one of the candidates or sympathize with someone.”
She also told us what criteria are taken into account. – Trust, recognition, positive and negative features, associations with a given candidate. One of the people who analyzed these studies said that they put a photo of a given candidate – seven, eight of those who circulate in the media – and they look at how the respondents react to the photo or speech – she said.
– At the end, of course, they are examined, questioned about their past, families, financial problems, and hooks. Here Mateusz Morawieckias I hear (…) is not the favourite for now, not only because he ruled for many years and has scandals on his account (…), but also because he is supposed to be the candidate who will unite the entire United Right and various factions – she said.
Zalewska said that based on the conversations she had with people from the Law and Justice community, in her opinion the greatest chances “at the moment” are Zbigniew Bogucki, Tobiasz Bocheński and Karol Nawrocki.
– When I asked PiS politicians what “impressive” really means for the president, the answer was: “Madam editor, you'll find out when you see the candidate,” she added.
Radomir Wir believes, however, that removing Mateusz Morawiecki from the list of potential candidates may be premature. – Mateusz Morawiecki himself is not giving up, because what he does on social media is very noticeable. In a sense, he is consistently building and paving his way to obtain this candidacy. It seems to me that in this whole situation related to the State Electoral Commission, paradoxically, this may be convenient for Mateusz Morawiecki, or at least his aspirations – he said.
Konrad Piasecki pointed out that Law and Justicewhich is currently struggling with financial problems, will have to take into account that if the candidate is “a young, unknown figure that PiS will have to promote, it will need money for that.”
