The turnout in the first round, which amounted to over 67 percent, positively surprised. We can be proud of ourselves and it would be great if this civic activity was repeated on June 1. As a rule, voting in the second round of presidential elections gathers more voters at the urns than in the first. So we have a chance for a beautiful record.

Krynica Morska is not only the Baltic resort and beautiful views. It is also a commune with the highest attendance in the first round presidential elections. 83.51 percent of voters went to the urns in Krynica Morska.

Krynica Morska numbers less than 1300 inhabitants. There are just over 1000 entitled to vote. On the fact that 1863 people finally voted in the city, tourists decided, wanting to fulfill the civic duty even during rest.

– On the very election day with certificates, more than 800 people were added – said Sylwia Szczurek, the mayor of Krynica Morska. Already the first data on attendance at 12 o'clock, transferred on Sunday by the National Electoral Commission, may have indicated that Krynica Morska was heading for the best result in the country.

The best and worst result in the country

– Most voters took part in voting, traditionally, in principle in every election, it is about the town of Krynica Morska, the Nowodworski poviat, the Pomeranian Voivodeship – 50.16 percent – passed the chairman of the State Electoral Commission Sylwester Marciniak.

At the opposite edge of Poland and at the second attendance pole, the Zębowice commune in the Opolskie Voivodeship was found. There, the turnout was the lowest in Poland and amounted to 41.61 percent.

– I see the sources of this situation in the fact that the number of people entitled to vote, there are about 2700-2699, it is really a number in which there are also people who are not permanent in our commune. These are people who work abroad permanently – pointed out Edmund Langosz, deputy head of the ZÄ™bowice commune.

And they don't come to elections or vote abroad. A similar situation is also in other places in the Opolskie Voivodeship, where the turnout on Sunday was the lowest in the country. Less than 58 percent of authorized voters went to the urns.

– The attendance is relatively low on paper, but if we looked at the participation of people who actually operate here in the region, she would probably not differ strongly from the average for this type of region in the country – noted Dr. BÅ‚ażej ChoroÅ› from the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences of the University of Opole.

Those who voted in ZÄ™bowice encourage other voters to go to polling stations on June 1. – As you said once, you have to say two. Yes, satisfaction that I am a citizen, I feel here in society and you have to do so – pointed out Mr. Wolfgang, a resident of the ZÄ™bowice commune.

– I always voted and I will vote. This is an obligation – noted Mr. Bernard, a resident of the ZÄ™bowice commune. – This is the duty of each of us. It depends on who we choose – said Mrs. Kornelia, a resident of the ZÄ™bowice commune.

Will there be a record?

The overall turnout in the country was 67.31 percent on Sunday and was the highest in the first round after 1989. – The high turnout is very happy. It shows that citizens want to have agility and want to use the rights they have within the democratic system – commented Professor MaÅ‚gorzata MolÄ™da -Zdziech, head of the Department of Political Studies of the Warsaw School of Economics.

In the second round, the turnout can be even higher. – This is the correctness. In the second round of presidential elections, the turnout is always higher than in the first, so if so, we will break the record – pointed out prof. Janusz Majcherek, sociologist and publicist.

– I am ready to risk the thesis that it will be higher, because the rate of these choices, and this is already visible, is very high, so I risk it, and I am putting the thesis that the turnout will be above 70 percent – said Dr. Tomasz SÅ‚upik, a political scientist from the University of Silesia.

Motivating voters to go to vote in the second round at all, will be one of the key tasks for candidates – experts note. Especially when it comes to voters whose candidate was eliminated in the first round or on Sunday did not take part in voting at all.

– This is about acquiring someone, so a candidate who wants to get preferences in the second round must be a conciliatory candidate, because he cannot refer to his iron electorate, but he must even attack and refer to those who have not voted for him yet – pointed out Dr. Andrzej Renke, a political scientist from the University of Security in PoznaÅ„.

– From mobilization, especially this additional electorate, i.e. those who were not voting in the first round, and will go to the second, the result of these choices may depend to a decisive extent – noted prof. Janusz Majcherek.
