Katarzyna Cichos, doctor of law, announced that she intends to run in the presidential elections as a non-partisan candidate. The main points of its agenda will be security, development and society.
Katarzyna Cichos announced her intention to run in the presidential elections on Saturday morning in Warsaw. – This will also be the beginning of the construction of a new movement, and ultimately a political party – the Polish Development Platform – center-right, meritocratic and pro-development – she said.
In an interview with the Polish Press Agency, she emphasized that her election program and campaign will be based on three foundations: security, development and society.
She described her views as center-right. She expressed hope that in the future she would create “a party of the middle – the Polish Development Platform, which will respect values, religion, identity issues, and at the same time focus on development and serious investment projects.”
When asked what kind of president she would like to be, Cichos said she saw the role of “open dialogue and a real attempt to unite Poles.” She added that she would like to indicate the strategy in the context of security and foreign policy. As she noted, this is a topic she deals with scientifically, so she believes that the president's primary task is to “guard the state's security.”
He is running in the presidential elections regardless of political parties. She said that the campaign will initially be financed through online donations. She added that the Polish Development Platform (PRP) is currently a website connecting experts with the party, which will most likely be established after the elections.
Katarzyna Cichos – who is she?
Katarzyna Cichos is a doctor of law, specializing in international law and legal aspects of development. As stated on the website of the Polish Development Platform, he works at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University. He is also a member of the Board of the Euro-Atlantic Association and the Board of the International Sustainable Development Research Society.
She worked, among others, at the Constitutional Tribunal (2017) and at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Katowice (2009-2010). In 2014, she was a candidate for the mayor of Siemianowice Śląskie and became a councilor of the City Council of Siemianowice Śląskie. She held this position until 2017.
Presidential elections 2025
Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia announced on Wednesday that the presidential elections would be held May 18. If a second round is necessary, it will be held June 1. Formally, the elections will be called on January 15, and only then will the election campaign begin.
So far, eight candidates have announced their participation in this year's presidential elections: Rafał Trzaskowski (Civic Coalition), Karol Nawrocki (Law and Justice), Szymon Hołownia (Trzecia Droga), Magdalena Biejat (Left), Sławomir Mentzen (Confederation), Marek Jakubiak (Free Republicans), Marek Woch (Non-Party Local Government Workers) and Piotr Szumlewicz (Union Alternative).
