Most respondents see Rafał Trzaskowski as the joint candidate of the ruling majority for president. Not much less – Szymon Hołownia – according to a SW Research survey for the rp.pl portal.
The presidential elections will be held in spring 2025. Participants survey SW Research for rp.pl was asked who, in their opinion, would be the best candidate of the current ruling majority for president if it decided to put forward one common candidate.
The current mayor of Warsaw received the most votes – 23.5 percent Rafał Trzaskowski.
20.4 percent of respondents would like to see him in this role Szymon Hołownia.
According to 6 percent of respondents, the candidate of the new majority for president should be the Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Deputy Prime Minister, President PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz indicated by 5 percent of respondents.
For 1.7 percent of respondents Adrian Zandberg is the best common candidate for president.
1.3 percent of respondents see the Minister of Education in this role Barbara Nowacka. In turn, 1.2 percent of respondents believe that the Minister of Labor could be a common candidate for president Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk.
According to 9.9 percent of respondents, the common majority candidate for president should be a politician not mentioned in this survey. 26 percent of respondents had no opinion in this case.
Who chooses Trzaskowski?
– The percentage of respondents who believe that Rafał Trzaskowski is the best candidate of the ruling majority for the office of Head of State increases with age (16 percent – people up to 24 years of age, 29 percent – people over 50 years of age). The current Mayor of Warsaw is chosen by almost every third person (31 percent) earning over PLN 5,000 net and the same number of respondents from cities with a population of 200,000 – 499,000 inhabitants – comments Dorota Cywińska, senior project manager at SW Research, quoted by rp.pl.
The study was conducted by the SW Research research agency among users of the SW Panel online panel on January 30-31, 2023. The analysis covered a group of 800 Internet users over 18 years of age. The sample was selected in a random quota manner. The structure of the sample was adjusted using analytical weight to correspond to the structure of Poles over 18 years of age in terms of key characteristics related to the subject of the study. When constructing the weight, socio-demographic variables were taken into account.
