– The decision has been made for 99 percent – this is what PiS club MP Krzysztof Ciecióra said about the PiS candidate for president in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. KO MEP Dariusz Joński, in turn, mentioned in the program “three differences” between the parties and their approach to selecting a candidate.
On Friday, 25,000 members of the Civic Coalition will vote for Rafał Trzaskowski or Radosław Sikorski In primaries to select the KO candidate for president. Voting will end at midnight.
On this day PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek announcedthat on Sunday at 4 p.m. a “civic meeting” will be held in Krakow, during which the decision to support the “non-party candidate” for president will be announced. If we were to literally stick to Bochenek's words that a “decision regarding support for a non-party candidate” would be announced, it would indicate that it might not apply to Przemysław Czarnek (the nominated candidates), Mariusz Błaszczak and Tobiasz Bocheński, because only (also on the list of potential candidates) Karol Nawrocki is not a member of PiS.
The situation surrounding the choice of the presidential candidate in both parties was commented on in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 by MEP Dariusz Joński of the Civic Coalition and Krzysztof Ciecióra from the OdNowa Association (PiS club).
Ionian: turnout and votes for each candidate will be announced
Joński said in the program that he supported Rafał Trzaskowski in the vote.
– We have signed an agreement with a company that is to secure the entire process, to keep everything secret, to ensure that nothing leaks and to provide us with full information about the number of people who will take part, and over 25,000 are entitled (to vote). The turnout, the number of votes for each candidate will be announced, and of course the one who will lead the Civic Coalition to victory, (of which) I am convinced, he said.
Ciecióra: I encouraged you to bet on Marcin Ociepa
In response to the primaries in the Civic Coalition, Ciecióra argued that there was also an “ongoing discussion” in PiS and “all politicians from our community took part in it.” – I also had the opportunity to speak on this topic and discussed it with the leadership of Law and Justice, together with members of the OdNowa Association – he assured.
When asked what candidacy he was arguing for, the MP did not answer directly. – I must admit that I have always aimed at a candidate who is outside the current or perhaps the first line of the political front and is a politician of the young generation, a new generation that guarantees that the right wing and conservatives in Poland will be represented in the coming years – he spoke.
When asked whether he believed that no one from PiS and other parties close to PiS was suitable for this function, Ciecióra denied it. – We have a lot of good, excellent politicians – he argued. – Karol Nawrocki or Tobiasz Bocheński are such candidates – he added. – I personally encouraged people to choose Marcin Ociepa, former deputy minister of national defense – he said.
Ciecióra confirmed that he knows who the PiS candidate for president is. – However, it is not my role to communicate it here – he cut short. When asked whether the decision regarding the PiS candidate had been made, the MP said: – The decision has been made for 99 percent and it will be announced on Sunday in Krakow.

In response to the opposition politician's statement, Joński gave “three main differences” between the parties. – We put it in the hands of 25,000 people who have to decide which candidate is better, so that the best one wins, because we want to win these elections. In PiS, we know how it is. Jarosław Kaczyński comes and chooses one who will be obedient for years to come. First of all, he began.
– Secondly, we have two good (candidates), PiS has none. Thirdly, we are prepared, without any charges, they have never had any conflict with the law – he added.
