Rafał Trzaskowski, the candidate of the Civic Coalition in next year's presidential elections, announced during his Sunday visit to Zosin (Lublin Voivodeship) that he “respects Magdalena Biejat very much.” In this way, he commented on the decision of the National Council of the New Left that the candidate of this group in the elections would be the deputy speaker of the Senate.

Magdalena Biejat is the deputy speaker of the Senate of the current term. She was an activist of the Razem party, but at the end of October this year she left the group together with four other members of parliament. Biejat remained in the Left club and did not join any party.

On Sunday, the National Council of the New Left decided that Biejat will be the candidate of the New Left in next year's presidential elections.

Duda in the IOC?

The President of Warsaw also commented on the decision of the Polish Olympic Committee's management board on Thursday adopted a resolution recommending the nomination of President Andrzej Duda as a member of the International Olympic Committee.

Trzaskowski said that in his opinion “it was some kind of mistake.” – I agree that President Duda was apparently “maneuvered” into this type of situation – said Trzaskowski, adding, “I do not believe that he would actually want to take the position of a titled athlete” (currently, the Polish representative in the IOC is Polish Olympic medalist Maja Włoszczowska – ed. .).

– President Duda undoubtedly has some achievements when it comes to sports, I share his passion for skiing, but there are certainly people who are much more deserving of Polish sport and they should perform these honorable functions – explained Trzaskowski.
