Prices of building materials – May 2023. Renovation and inflation

Building materials in the first five months of 2023 increased by 10 percent year on year, the PSB Handel Group reported. The prices of cement and lime increased the most, by 35 percent. A decrease in prices was recorded only in two groups of products.

How are the prices of building materials rising

As reported, increases were recorded in 18 product groups: paints, varnishes (+18%), drywall (+17%), construction chemicals (+14%), tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (+13%), garden and hobby (+12%), finishing (+12%), automotive (+12%), installations, heating (+12%), furnishings, household appliances (+11%), woodwork (+11%) %), walls, chimneys (+11%), tools (+9%), waterproofing (+8%), decorations (+8%), lighting, electrics (+7%), surroundings house (+3%) and roofs, gutters (+3%).

The drop in prices occurred in 2 groups: thermal insulation (-2%) and OSB boards, wood (-12%).

Inflation in Poland – May 2023

The Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Thursday that prices of consumer goods and services in May 2023 increased by 13 percent on an annualized basis, and compared to the previous month, prices did not change.


PSB Trade Group

About 14,000 people work in these points.

The total revenues of PSB partners from the sale of building materials and home and garden materials in 2022 reached PLN 9.6 billion, while the revenues of the PSB Handel SA Group (headquarters) amounted to PLN 4.2 billion.
