I would very much like us to make a great government confession in the coming months at meetings with people – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting with ministers in connection with the anniversary of the signing of the August Agreements. He explained that this concerns “meetings with groups that have some reason to be concerned”. He added that “actually this applies to each of the ministries”.
On Saturday, ceremonies to commemorate the anniversary of the death of 44th anniversary of the signing of the August Agreements. Prime minister Donald Tusk he met there with ministers of his government in the presence of the city president Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.
Tusk announces “government confession”
The head of government recalled that the anniversary of the elections on October 15 is approaching and in connection with this he would like to see a kind of public “government confession” of what has been and has not been done since the beginning of taking power in Poland. – I would very much like that in the coming months – when we will be approaching the anniversary of the elections and then the anniversary of the formation of the government – we would make such a great government confession at meetings with people – he said.
– I don't mean rallies, or any type of campaign, I mean well-organized meetings with groups that have some reason to be concerned or that have perhaps lost some trust or faith in our determination – he said, adding that “actually this applies to each of the ministries”. – Today I will not be setting any precise tasks. The time for that will come at the next government meeting – Tusk added.
Tusk: I will expect mini-reports from ministers
He announced that the first of such meetings would concern the rule of law and would be organized by the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General. Adam Bodnar. – Minister Bodnar has committed to organizing this meeting with interested groups that are also concerned about recent events. They would probably like to regain certainty that we are still on the side of the rule of law, without any calculations, without any ambiguities – Tusk continued.
– I will expect from the ladies and gentlemen ministers very reliable, honest, painfully true mini-reports, in which cases you feel (he addressed the members of the government – ed.) that things are not going well. And in these cases, where things are not going well, to talk to those who are not entirely satisfied with our actions. And not to sugarcoat or make compliments – he continued.
– I really want you all to shoulder the responsibility for meetings and difficult conversations. The truth can be difficult and I have no doubt that you will agree with me after a moment of reflection – added the head of government.
Tusk said that subsequent meetings would concern, among others, the area of culture and media, as well as the situation of the State Forests.
Tusk: no government should feel unpunished
Before the meeting with ministers, Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted on Platform X, in which he emphasized that “no government should feel unpunished”. “Every government must be held accountable for abuses, not as part of revenge, but within the framework of the law. This is what we demanded in August 80. At a special government meeting in Gdańsk, I will remind my ministers that this principle applies not only to PiS, but also to us,” Tusk emphasized.
