Great surprise and misunderstanding. We should not legitimize neo-judges – this is how representatives of coalition groups commented on the decision of Prime Minister Donald Tusk to provide a countersignature to the president's decision on the selection of the president of the Civil Chamber. – Please do not accuse our community of accepting the neo-judge construction – appealed Mariusz Witczak from the Civic Coalition.

Prime minister Donald Tusk countersignedi.e. he signed and approved the president's decision Andrzej Duda regarding the election of the president of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court. As the OKO.press portal writes, “legally elected judges are boycotting the elections”, and Tusk's signature opens the way to holding them and entrusting the presidency to a neo-judge.

Witczak: please do not accuse us of accepting the neo-judge construction

Mariusz Witczak from the Civic Coalition said in an interview with a TVN24 reporter that “this decision is of a technical nature, because the elections for the president of the Chamber will take place, they are ahead of us”. – Of course, I understand the voices of some people who have worked with us for years or built solutions regarding the rule of law, but a little patience – he appealed.

– I have no idea what the prime minister's motives were when he signed the consent or countersigned it, and I think that the prime minister will say more on this subject soon. However, as a rule, please do not accuse our community of accepting the neo-judge construction and of not doing everything to change the National Council of the Judiciary and restore the rule of law that we have been fighting for for years – he added.

Trela: I wouldn't give such a countersignature

Tomasz Trela from the Left criticized Tusk's decision. – We, as the October 15 coalition, should not legitimize in any way the neo-judges who wanted to take over the Polish justice system at the request of Law and Justice – he stated.

– I remember those protests, I remember those candles in front of the common courts in our country. It was a great opposition. The Left was in the front row there. If it were up to me to make that decision, I would definitely not have put such a countersignature there. And what's more, no one from the Left would have put such a countersignature – he emphasized.

Cwalina-Śliwowska: great surprise and misunderstanding

Żaneta Cwalina-Śliwowska from Poland 2050 admitted that the Prime Minister's decision “really arouses great surprise, great misunderstanding”.

– We are definitely in favor of neo-judges having their possibilities somewhat limited in those moments when politicians make decisions about promotion or taking high positions. In order to finally depoliticize the justice system – she said.

– However, knowing Donald Tusk, knowing what kind of politician he is, we can assume that this decision had some hidden meaning – she added.
