The Chancellery of the Prime Minister issued a statement on the employment status in the office. According to the information provided, the number of people working in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister has decreased from 993 to 825 people since October 15, 2023.

“Due to false information that has been appearing in the press for some time now, we are summarizing the employment status in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister,” we read in a statement published on the government website.

In recent days, the media, including the “Fakt” newspaper, have reported that “Prime Minister Donald Tusk's office is swelling before our eyes”. “It turns out that within half a year – from December 13 to June 10 – 95 employees found work in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, including in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Department of Equal Treatment and the Department of Senior Policy” – we read in the “Fakt” publication.

“The employment status in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister as of October 15, 2023 (the date of the parliamentary elections – ed.) was 993 people, while the employment status as of August 5, 2024 was 825 people. In total, 290 people left the Chancellery of the Prime Minister during this time (which is 30%), and 122 people were employed during this time,” it was reported in Tuesday's press release.

The Chancellery of the Prime Minister assessed that “the decline in employment occurred despite the need to create, in terms of staff, the Department for the Preparation and Exercise of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the establishment of two Departments in connection with the new tasks: Senior Policy and Equal Treatment”.

As added, the Department for the Preparation and Exercise of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, operating temporarily until the end of 2025, currently employs 32 people.

“In the Chancellery of the Prime Minister's budget for 2024, the PiS government planned 9 positions and filled only that many, the remaining 50 positions have already been planned from the budget reserve. Of these positions, 21 have been filled so far,” the Chancellery of the Prime Minister said in a statement.
