Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Monday that he would ask the Sejm in the near future about the vote of confidence in his government. He emphasized that this would be the “first test” for the coalition on October 15 before cooperation with the new president.
Prime Minister Donald gave a speech on Monday presidential elections. The candidate of Law and Justice won in them Karol Nawrocki with a result of 50.89 percent of votes. He defeated Rafał Trzaskowski, which was voted by 49.11 percent of voters.
– The emergency plan, assuming a difficult coach, is prepared. It is difficult to assume in advance what the attitude of the new president will be. If he showed a desire to cooperate, it would be a positive surprise that we will answer with full openness – he assured Donald Tusk in the speech.
Donald Tusk: I'll ask for a vote of trust
Otherwise – as the prime minister said – “there is nothing to wait for.” – We will move with the work regardless of the circumstances, because we were chosen for that. We will submit ready -made bills, but if necessary, we will rule and make decisions also with the president trying to block good changes. We already have experience – he supplemented.
– There is too much to do, starting with international matters, building a powerful army and a strong economy, repolonization of industry, through social security and state services, up to settlements and the fight against crime – he mentioned.
He emphasized that “this plan would require unity and courage from the entire coalition on October 15”. – The first test will be a vote of trust, which I will ask the Sejm in the near future. I want everyone to see – also our opponents in the country and abroad – that we are ready for this situation, that we understand the seriousness of the moment, but that we do not intend to take a step back – he said.
Tusk: His winning should be considered
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that “there have been no such great emotions for a long time.” The head of government thanked the voters for participating in the vote. – Over 20 million Poles chose the new president of the Republic of Poland, showing their strong attachment to democracy and its key principle, i.e. free and universal choices – he pointed out.
– As if we did not judge the winning candidate, he should be considered his winning and congratulate his voters, which I do here – said the head of government. Tusk also thanked “the lose for determination and fight to the end for every voice.”
He declared that “he would not stop for a moment as the prime minister of the Polish government in his work and in our joint fight for Poland, which we dreamed of at the threshold of independence: free, sovereign, safe and prosperous.” – The presidential election has not changed anything here and they will not change – he added.
“We will cooperate with the president wherever necessary”
– In harmony with the Constitution and our own conscience, we will cooperate with the new president wherever necessary and possible. I am aware that it may be more difficult than many of you thought, going yesterday to vote, but it does not change the least of my determination and the will to defend all that we believe together – said the head of government.
– I say today to all those who voted for RafaÅ‚ Trzaskowski: We're going further. I know how you feel, but remember, we arranged a great thing, requiring strength, perseverance and maybe more time than we would like. In democracy, the fight never ends. I believe in you, I believe in Poland – finished the head of government.
