– The President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, did everything during the previous term to show that he can help the government of his friends and even make political comments. In addition, I am convinced that the decisions regarding the level of interest rates at that time were late, said former Prime Minister Jan Krzysztof Bielecki in “Fakty po Faktach” when asked whether he saw any grounds for bringing the head of the central bank before the State Tribunal. Bielecki also commented on the shape of the draft budget for 2025.
Former Prime Minister and economist Jan Krzysztof Bielecki commented in Wednesday's “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 on the issue of the motion to bring the president of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, before the State Tribunal.
Earlier in the day, the Committee for Constitutional Responsibility (ODK) heard the first witnesses in this case. The questions concerned the purchase of bonds by the central bank. After carrying out its work, the committee may submit such a request to the Sejm or discontinue the proceedings. The resolution to hold the President of the NBP accountable before the State Tribunal is adopted by the Sejm by an absolute majority of votes in the presence of at least half (230) of the statutory number of deputies.

As Bielecki assessed, “Adam Glapiński did everything during the previous term to show that he can help the government (…) of his friends and even make political comments.”
– In addition, I am convinced that decisions regarding height interest rates they were late at that time. And it wasn't a month or even two months late. Because if they were late by a month or two, no one would have absolutely no grounds to criticize anything. Because this is economics, this is not mathematics, this is not an exact science, there is also a lot of intuition here. But our delay was a year and a half, two years, he said.

“Large” budget deficit. “I understand the Minister of Finance”
Bielecki was also asked what his assessment was draft budget act for 2025which she accepted Council of Ministers a few days ago. The budget deficit is expected to amount to PLN 288.77 billion. As the former prime minister said, “it is a lot because he is accumulating all the losses and deficits that were hidden somewhere and (the current government) wants to bring them to the surface.”

Bielecki also admitted that “this is a difficult situation.” – Let's hope that geopolitics will not affect the conditions for the functioning of our economy – he added.
