We cannot go out in a constitutional way and express our opinion on current social and political issues – said Eliza Rutynowska from the Civic Development Forum about the continued ban on spontaneous assemblies. In her opinion, such a ban is “completely illegal in the present situation”.
The regulation was maintained in the regulation published on Saturday in the Journal of Laws no spontaneous assemblies. Many lawyers consider it unjustified, especially in view of increasing the number of people allowed to attend concerts, special events or stadiums. The government banned spontaneous gatherings last year. As explained at the time, this decision was aimed at limiting the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ban on spontaneous assemblies “eliminates the political rights of citizens”
Eliza Rutynowska from the Civic Development Forum said in an interview with a TVN24 reporter that “the ban on such gatherings, completely illegal in the current situation, eliminates the political rights of citizens”.
– This makes it impossible for us to go out in the constitutional way and express our opinion on current social and political issues – he said.
According to Rutynowska, in the case of spontaneous assemblies “we are dealing with a situation of such a split personality”. – On the one hand, we do not even have a state of natural disaster, and the measures used are radically disproportionate. At the same time, other restrictions are being loosened, which are less important socially, less important from the point of view of enforcing our rights and freedoms – she pointed out
In her opinion, “such a law will collapse in the courts.”
