The police detained three people who in the Prostki commune (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) emptied containers for collecting clothes for charity. The two men were accompanied by a 15-year-old who escaped from an educational center and wanted to earn some money. The owner of the containers has reported the theft of at least a ton of textiles.
On Monday (November 15), district officials from the Prostki commune detained a 24, 20 and 15-year-old who emptied the containers intended for the collection of clothing and other textiles for charity.
– During the intervention, it turned out that they are not entitled to collect clothing from this type of containers – says staff sergeant Agata Kulikowska de Nałęcz from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Ełk.
Adult men were helped by a 15-year-old
On the bus, in which the men pulled up to the containers, the uniformed officers revealed several dozen bags with gifts.
A 15-year-old was with the adult men, who had escaped from a youth care center and was helping them to earn some money.
Stealing at least a ton of textiles
– In the conducted proceedings, the policemen will carefully explain the role of each of the men in this incident. The owner of the containers has reported the theft of no less than one ton of textiles, the policewoman points out.
Theft is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment.
