It was a factual, tough, manly conversation. This area of the functioning of the Polish economy, carriers, in my opinion, have been neglected and overlooked – said Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak (PSL) on Wednesday after a meeting with representatives of the transport industry in Lublin. According to the new head of the ministry, Polish entrepreneurs have been affected by unfavorable regulations for a long time. – Polish transport has had four letters for a very long time – he emphasized.
Minister Klimczak met on Wednesday evening with representatives of the transport industry who are protesting in front of the border crossings with Ukraine in Hrebenne and Korczowa.
Klimczak: the carriers’ arguments were not listened to
– I am grateful to the people who came to this meeting. Lots of information, factual, tough, manly conversation. This area of the Polish economy, carriers, in my opinion, have been neglected and overlooked. These arguments were not listened to, said Dariusz Klimczak.
The minister emphasized that it is not only about the agreement liberalizing transport, but also about the EU mobility package and changes regarding posted workers. According to the head of the Ministry of Transport, “Polish transport has had four letters for a very long time”
– Today the moment has come for people to take to the streets and protest. A conversation was necessary. I have noted a number of arguments, and I will also like to present them to those parties with whom I will talk. I have important meetings ahead of me when it comes to monitoring the contract European Union – Ukraine, but also with my counterparts on the Ukrainian side. So that Polish carriers and entrepreneurs can live, so that Ukraine can live, so that no one loses out on it – he said.
Rafał Mekler, one of the protesting carriers, said that “the meeting talked about the frustration caused by the lack of response from the previous government.” – We give a large mandate of trust to the minister, in our opinion the talks are constructive, we see understanding of our demands. We hope that we will finally have an ambassador for our affairs, our representative, he said.
He added, however, that at the moment “there can be no question of easing the protest.” – One of the borders is passable at the moment – he emphasized.
Manifestations of carriers
On November 6, carriers started a demonstration in front of the border crossings in Dorohusk, Hrebenne (Lublin Voivodeship) and Korczowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The mayor of the commune, Wojciech Sawa, decided on Monday to disband the demonstration in front of the crossing in Dorohusk. In other places, entrepreneurs continue the blockade, allowing several cars per hour.
Carriers are demanding, among others: introducing commercial permits for Ukrainian companies to transport goods, excluding humanitarian aid and supplies for the Ukrainian army; suspension of licenses for companies established after the explosion war in Ukraine and carry out their inspection. There is also a proposal to eliminate the so-called electronic queue on the Ukrainian side.
In Medyka from November 23 this year. Farmers from the “Scammed Village” organization protest. They demand, among others: corn subsidies. They announce that they will protest until the end.
