Healthcare workers start a protest in Warsaw. They are demanding higher wages and system changes. They announce that the strike is to last. Yesterday they interrupted talks with the Ministry of Health because the prime minister did not show up. Report on tvn24.pl.


The protest of health care workers will start at noon on Krasiński Square, where the participants are already gathering. The protesters will then walk in front of the building of the Ministry of Health, the Presidential Palace and the Sejm building. Difficulties and detours during the protest in Warsaw

During this weekend, the Warsaw Royal Route is not a promenade, and traffic will be as it is on weekdays. Buses running along Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście have returned to their basic routes. However, this will change during the march of the medics.

Public transport vehicles will also be directed to the detour routes. This applies to bus lines: 100, 116, 178, 180, 503 and 518. Medics predict the creation of a “white town”

On Friday, before 11.30, the health ministry announced on Twitter that Adam Niedzielski had invited medics to the “Dialog” Social Partnership Center for 2 p.m. The protesters responded shortly thereafter under the entry. It asked whether Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki would be present at the meeting.

We need a meeting with decision-makers, and there is no such person today, said the vice-president of the Supreme Medical Council, Artur Drobniak, after a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Health at the “Dialog” Social Partnership Center in Warsaw.

At the next conference, representatives of the Protesting and Strike Committee for Healthcare appeared in front of the Ministry of Health around 15.30. They announced that the strike of medics would not be canceled and announced the creation of a “white town” in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

– We want to make it clear that flattening our postulates, our attempt to heal this system to the issue of remuneration, is to strike the respect of every Pole, and certainly every medic – said Artur Drobniak, vice-president of the Supreme Medical Council.

Medics’ demands

On Friday morning, the health protection protest and strike committee posted an entry on Twitter in which they recalled eight demands they made:

1. Immediate amendment to the act on the method of determining the lowest basic salary of certain employees employed in healthcare entities and certain other acts. 2. A real increase in the valuation of medical services and lump sums by 30%. and ambulance services in the State Medical Rescue system by 80 percent. from October 1, 2021 and AOTMiT’s obligation to re-evaluate all benefits until November 30, 2022. 3. Employment of additional administrative staff and support staff (medical secretaries, registrars, medical guardians) and the introduction of employment standards depending on the number of patients. 4. Providing medical professions with the status of a public official and creating a system of protecting employees against verbal and physical aggression of patients. 5. Establishing an appropriate no-fault medical event recording system on conditions that protect medics and patients. 6. Resignation from creating new medical professions with a simultaneous more effective use of the current medical professions by providing them with postgraduate and specialization training opportunities, extending their competences. 7. Introducing sick leave after 15 years of professional work. 8. Passing laws on laboratory medicine, the profession of paramedic and other medical professions.
