Polish carriers had to adapt to the regulations applicable in the European Union, and the Ukrainian carrier does not have to comply with them – said Dominik Mateńka, a carrier participating in the blockade on the border with Ukraine, in “Fakty po Faktach”. – This is the legacy of the PiS government and a symbol of how they treated Poland’s eastern policy – commented Paweł Kowal (KO), head of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, on the truckers’ protest.
For almost a month at the crossings with Ukraine in Dorohusk and Hrebenne (Lublin Voivodeship) and in Korczowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) there is a protest by Polish carriers who allow several cars to pass per hour
.The protesters are demanding, among other things: Ukraine introducing a separate queue for cars returning to Poland without goods, introducing commercial permits for Ukrainian companies to transport goods, excluding humanitarian aid and supplies for the Ukrainian army; suspension of licenses for companies established after the explosion war in Ukraine and carry out their inspection. There is also a proposal to eliminate the so-called electronic queue on the Ukrainian side.
In turn, since November 23, farmers have also been protesting in Medyka and informed that their action at this border crossing is to last until January 3, 2024.
“We would like to feel like hosts”
– We demand the restoration of the permit system for carriers from Ukraine, we also demand the suspension of foreign capital from countries such as Russia, Belarus or Ukraine and sorting out the queue. This is a request to the Ukrainian side to create crossings for European cars, from the European Union, returning empty to Poland – said Dominik Mateńka, a transporter participating in the blockade on the border with Ukraine, in “Fakty po Faktach”.
– We, as carriers, as people from the transport industry, would like to feel at home, so that we can develop our interests – he said.

Kowal: this is the legacy of PiS rule
– Let’s see what they have brought the Polish state to. There is a group of transporters that represents a small fraction (of Polish carriers – ed.). This is a minority group that blocked the border during the war and created a traffic jam. The Polish state stands nearby. People who should drive and have their own business developed, Polish business, control other cars. I don’t know if it is possible to create a situation where the cart is before the horse, said Paweł Kowal from the Civic Coalition. – This is the legacy of PiS rule and a symbol of how they treated Poland’s eastern policy – he said.
According to him, the traffic jam should be unloaded immediately. – This is the border with a country that is at war, it is winter, people on these roads may have accidents due to these blockades, there may be deaths, and this has happened in several cases. Why PIS leaving us with a state that is upside down? – Kowal asked.
He pointed out that one of the leaders of the protest is a Confederate politician. – This protest is political, which makes it even more difficult to end it – said Kowal. He stressed, however, that the problem raised by carriers is not imaginary. – The government has an obligation to European institutions to take care of the interests of the Polish industry – he said.
