On Friday, December 6. In the evening, police officers from Prudnik (Opole Voivodeship) received information about the disappearance of two teenage girls. There was no telephone contact with the girls throughout the day. The teenagers' parents realized that the girls were not participating in school activities that day and reported them missing.

They found them in the stairwell of one of the tenement houses

“The case was handled by Prudnik detectives, who immediately initiated search operations. Thanks to the commitment and full mobilization of the unit, less than half an hour after the report, the officers found the missing girls in the stairwell of one of the tenement houses. If a child or an adult goes missing, do not delay in informing the uniformed services about this fact. In situations like this, every second is very important. Moreover, when reporting, provide the services with detailed information and do not hide any facts. Although in our opinion some information may seem unimportant, it can often help to quickly find a missing person.

Pilot program

There is a pilot program in the Opole Voivodeship, under which a person reporting a missing child can directly call the officer on duty at the provincial police headquarters. This is a special telephone that supports the police in taking immediate action in cases of: – refusal to accept or delay in accepting by the police a notification of an event that may pose a threat to the life or health of children; – attempts to send the person reporting the missing child to another police unit; – delays in the police undertaking search activities after receiving a missing person's report; – lack of contact with the person handling the case and, at the same time, lack of knowledge about the course of activities carried out.
