In the flooded city, there are problems with power supply, which poses a threat to the health and life of some residents – said Senior Brigadier Tomasz ProtaĆ from the Prudnik Fire Department. The tvn24.pl interlocutor reported that firefighters had to provide power to the equipment necessary to sustain the life of one of the residents.
– The firefighters are doing everything they can to make sure that residents can move around the city again as soon as possible. This possibility of communication, both for the services and the residents themselves, so that they can replenish supplies, is gradually returning – says Senior Brig. ProtaĆ.

He said that until recently, driving through Prudnik was almost impossible. – The most difficult situation was near Nyska Street, in nearby industrial facilities and the main intersection, i.e. the roundabout where SkowroĆskiego, PowstaĆcĂłw ĆlÄ skich, Batorego and Wiejska Streets meet – enumerates the firefighter.
He emphasizes that – just like this takes place, among others, in Czechowice-Dziedzice – it is not possible to determine the extent of the losses caused by the flood.
– We will only be able to say this when the water subsides a bit – added the firefighter.
For help
The firefighter said that the city was experiencing power outages due to the devastating flood. “We had to come to the aid of one of the residents who needed power for a life-support device. The actions were carried out efficiently, and the person is out of danger,” the firefighter said.
He added that at this stage, firefighters are carrying out activities related to rescuing people. – We have a lot of incidents. Some residents were evacuated as a precaution yesterday, especially those who lived on the side of ZĆoty Potok – the firefighter reports.
Water reveals destruction
Our reporter MaĆgorzata Marczok is looking at the situation in Prudnik. Among others, she spoke to one of the residents who said that as a result of the flood, a pitch that was still under construction was underwater. – The cost of the investment is around PLN 30 million. We will see how big the losses will be when the water recedes – her interlocutor told her.
The city's residents point out that the flood took some by surprise. Our journalist spoke to a woman living in a block of flats on Batorego Street. She said that her husband had left the house without any problems on Saturday, and that a few dozen minutes later she could only get out of the house using a private pontoon.
Dam in danger. “It's better to lose your fortune than your life”
The mayor of Prudnik, Grzegorz ZawiĆlak, yesterday called on the residents of Moszczanka, ĆÄ ka Prudnicka and the part of Prudnik adjacent to the Prudnik River to evacuate. – It's better to lose your property than your life – he said.
The commander of the State Fire Service in Prudnik asked for the evacuation of the town near Prudnik:
– Residents of Moszczanka and ĆÄ ka Prudnicka, evacuate as soon as you can, we have information about a breach on the embankment in JarnoĆtĂłwek, the dam is at risk – he noted.
Currently, the water in the city has subsided slightly, but – as MaĆgorzata Marczok reports – another flood wave is expected.
