Two employees of the Poviat Road Administration in Puławy and a local construction contractor were detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. The prosecutor’s office accuses road workers of misappropriation of public property, one of them will also be charged with disclosing information from public procurement in exchange for a bribe from a builder.

Central Anti-Corruption Bureau informed on Monday about the detention of two employees of the Poviat Road Administration in Puławy and a local entrepreneur from the construction industry.

The actions were carried out on June 5 by officers of the CBA Regional Office in Lublin. The investigation in this case is conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość.

He was supposed to disclose information from public procurement for bribes

CBA officers searched nine locations in the Lublin and Wielkopolska regions. As reported in the release, the evidence collected indicates that one of the employees of the Poviat Road Administration in Puławy, in exchange for a financial advantage, disclosed information on public procurement in his place of employment.

The detained employees of the office are accused of appropriating the property of the Poviat Road Administration, including, inter alia, building materials. Both were charged with misappropriation of property. One of them also allegations of corruption, abuse of powers in connection with the performance of a public function, as well as disclosure of information on public procurement.

On the other hand, the entrepreneur heard, inter alia, allegations of granting financial benefits to persons performing public functions.

The court granted the prosecutor’s requests for pre-trial detention for the two suspects. The CBA announces that the investigation is developing and further arrests are possible.
