In one of the housing estates in Puławy (Lubelskie Voivodeship), a puppy was allegedly beaten. Neighbors took care of the animal. The city police and representatives of the shelter arrived on the spot. The dog was taken to the hospital, where after undergoing surgery, the dog is recovering. The case was reported to the police. She has already initiated action.

– It started with the fact that on Monday, April 10, we received a report from a volunteer from a shelter for homeless animals that Municipal Police was summoned to the Włostowice estate, where the puppy was to be beaten. The neighbors were the first to take care of the dog – says Agnieszka Śniegocka, president of the Po Humanly Do Animals Foundation – Przyjazna Łapa.

Tymek, because that was the name of the seven-month-old puppy, went straight to the hospital.

Broken paw, torn cruciate ligament

As we read on the foundation’s Facebook profile, the animal underwent emergency surgery because it had a “badly broken rear left paw”. There was also – probably as a result of beating – a fracture of the femur and rupture of the cruciate ligament. The dog also had a significantly enlarged liver.

– The animal is recovering. He will go to a foster home on Monday. We will look for someone who will take him on a permanent basis – the president of the foundation points out.

The police are dealing with the case.

– The notification was received on Wednesday, April 12, in the evening. The case is still in its early stages. We interviewed the owner of the foundation and the witnesses of the event. We will also need veterinary documentation to determine exactly what injuries the dog suffered and whether the animal was mistreated with particular cruelty in this case – says Commissioner Ewa Rejn-Kozak from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Puławy.
