The body of a young man was found on a freight car under electric traction. His identity is being established. An autopsy will be held in the coming days to help determine the cause of the man’s death.

According to Commissioner Ewa Rejn-Kozak, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Puławy, on Monday (March 20), around 4 p.m., the Puławy duty officer was notified that a man was lying on a freight car at the railway station in Puławy.

– A driver from a passing train noticed him. Police officers who were sent to the scene confirmed the report. The man was lying on one of the cisterns of the train station standing on the tracks, not far from the electric traction. He showed no signs of life, police said.

After the traction power supply was disconnected, the site of the incident was inspected under the supervision of the prosecutor. The man’s body was secured for autopsy.

He had no papers or phone

– Initial findings have ruled out the involvement of third parties in the event. No items, documents or phone were found with the man. The police took a number of official steps to establish the identity of the deceased. It is highly probable that he is a 22-year-old resident of the Puławy district, said Commissioner Ewa Rejn-Kozak. The man, she said, was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. “Today the body will be presented for identification,” the policewoman said.

The investigation into the man’s death is conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Puławy. – The findings so far exclude the involvement of other people in the man’s death. The reasons will be determined by the section that will take place in the coming days – Grzegorz Kwit, head of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Puławy, told tvn24.pl.

As the prosecutor added, every version of events is being considered at this stage.
