The American Massachusetts University of Technology is still the best university in the world – according to the prestigious QS World University Ranking for 2023. The podium was completed by the universities of Cambridge and Stanford. The highest Polish university was ranked the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University ranked several places lower.
QS World University Ranking is prepared by the British company Quacquarelli Symmonds, which publishes publications on education and studying abroad. The list, published every year in June, is based on six criteria: reputation in the academic community, prestige among employers, the ratio of the number of lecturers to the number of students, the number of citations and the number of foreign students and employees.
American and British universities traditionally dominate the top. He won Massachusetts University of Technologyhe took second place University of Cambridgeand the third Stanford University. This is a podium similar to last year’s. It was also then that the Massachusetts college won. The universities of Cambridge and Stanford were classified ex aequo in the third position. He was still ahead of them University of Oxford, which this time came fourth.
From British universities This year’s top ten also includes the Imperial College of London and UCL. From the American: Harvard University, California Institute of Technology, and University of Chicago. The only representative of a country other than the two in the top ten is ETH Zurich from Switzerland in ninth place.
Asia is famous for its high level of education. The best university there – the National University of Singapore – came only on the 11th position. Universities from the capital of China – Peking University and Tsinghua University were placed right behind him.
Promotion of Polish universities
The best Polish university according to the QS World University Ranking is, as in previous years, University of Warsaw, which took 284th place. He came on the 293rd position Jagiellonian university. A place in the 521-530 range was awarded to the Poznań University of Life Sciences and the Warsaw University of Technology. The remaining universities were classified in places 801-1000.
Over the past year, the ranking shows that the gap between our two leading universities has increased slightly, but both have advanced. In last year’s ranking, the Jagiellonian University went head to head with its Warsaw competitor – the University of Warsaw took 308th place, the Jagiellonian University – 309th place. The Warsaw University of Technology ranked slightly higher than this year – between 501st and 510th place.
