When the president pardoned Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik after 15 days of their stay in prison, he once again said that they had been convicted for fighting corruption. Meanwhile, they were convicted of abuse of power. Now we know more and more about many people whose lives were ruined by the CBA’s actions.
– My life was completely destroyed and to this day I don’t know why – admits Bogusław Seredyński, former president of Wydawnictwo Naukowo-Techniczne. In 2009, Seredyński was targeted by a CBA agent known as Agent Tomek, whose superiors were Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik.
Seredyński talked about how the CBA’s actions also affected his family in the “Superwizjer” program. – My children were forced to emigrate under the pressure of hate and social ostracism – he said.
Bogusław Seredyński refused to accept a bribe seven times. Tomasz Kaczmarek went so far as to get him drunk. And when he fell asleep, he left an envelope with 10,000 euros on the table. In the morning, the president demanded to take the money, but it was too late. He has been stopped.
In 2020, journalists witnessed the first meeting between Seredyński and the former agent after many years. This is a touching testimony – we hear from politicians from the ruling camp. – The aim of the CBA was not to look for cases of corruption, but to create crimes – says Mirosław Suchoń from Poland 2050-Third Way. And this sounds familiar.
– These were not actions aimed at detecting crimes, but creating this crime – said on December 20, 2023, Anna Maria Bator-Ciesielska, the judge who validly sentenced Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik for abuse of power in the so-called land scandal of 2007. The president decided to pardon them anyway. – I am absolutely convinced that the case of Kamiński and Wąsik, at the stage it is in today, is only the beginning of a great battle – says Bartosz Arłukowicz from the Civic Platform.
Questions for the investigative committee
The mayor of Szprotawa, who was detained five years ago, knows perfectly well what detention by the CBA is. It was supposed to be about corruption. Now he has been acquitted. The judgment is invalid. Mirosław Gąsik spent nine months in custody and there are easy references to politicians pardoned by the president. – These are the people who brought this fate to me. Mi and Szprotawa. I am not alone – says Mirosław Gąsik, mayor of Szprotawa. – They ruined people’s lives – says prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek, who was under surveillance by Pegasus. – They were also responsible for supervising the use of this type of surgical techniques. I am in favor of obtaining information this way, he adds.
Now the investigative commission is to answer questions about the spy software and the role of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik in it.
