At the meeting in Rokietnica, Radosław Sikorski referred to his rivalry with Rafał Trzaskowski in the primary elections in the Civic Coalition. Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski compete in primaries in the Civic Coalition to run for president. Both politicians met with voters on Saturday – Trzaskowski in Kraków, Sikorski in Rokietnica in Greater Poland.
Sikorski: I promise you one thing in advance
– I promise you one thing in advance: if Rafał Trzaskowski wins these primaries, I will work for him, for his success, for our president, with full commitment. There is no doubt about it. Because the most important thing is for the president to stop sticking a stick in the spokes of the government, to allow the government to fulfill its democratic mandate, so that we can finally do everything we want to do. – We are also four years after the women's strike, after protests in defense of the constitution. All these things must be implemented as we have committed to, and for this we need someone who will not maliciously veto or maliciously send to the Constitutional Tribunal, but will play his constitutional role – he continued.
– Firstly, a guardian of the constitution itself, secondly, someone who soothes rather than fuels disputes between Poles, and finally, someone who, having responsibility for foreign policy and a role in the field of security, will maximize Poland's influence in the international arena. In this sense, the president is like the minister of foreign affairs and a bit of defense is turbocharged, because my speeches at the United Nations Security Council were noticed, he said.
– These elections are about security, because just as we have been building Poland's wealth for 30 years, developing the fastest, catching up with the West the fastest in our history, now the attempt to rebuild the Russian Empire is a real threat to everything we have achieved, and events are accelerating – said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
Sikorski: times have changed
He also referred to the rivalry with Rafał Trzaskowski.
– I believe that Rafał was our objectively optimal candidate in 2020.
