Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said in Kyiv that Poland is considering giving Ukraine more equipment, possibly including MiG-29 aircraft. He also mentioned that Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks were spotted in the offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces in Kursk Oblast. The head of Polish diplomacy also said that with the Ukrainian side he did not avoid difficult topics such as the need to restore the exhumation and Christian burial of victims of the Volhynian crime.

– We passed it on Ukraine so far, about 400 PT-91 Twardy tanks, some of which, I hear, are also already fighting in the Kursk region. We have transferred 50 Krab self-propelled gun-howitzers, Piorun portable anti-aircraft missile systems and air defense elements. We are considering transferring other equipment options, including perhaps MiG-29 aircraft, which are needed today to defend the skies – Sikorski said at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha.

– Poland also supports Ukraine in ensuring its energy security. This is a priority in the context of the upcoming autumn and winter, when the needs exceed the capabilities of the energy sector damaged by Russian attacks – he said.

He noted that “we stand by the side of heroic, fighting Ukraine, attacked by Russia”. – We stand for historical and political reasons, seeing Ukraine as a future friend and member of a united Europe. We also stand by Ukraine for moral reasons, which are the foundations of our civilization. Every decent person should stand by the side of the victim when he is attacked. And not root for or even support the attacking bandit – said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sikorski on the exhumation of the victims of the Volhynian crime: I received assurances of progress

The head of Polish diplomacy also said that he had discussed the most important issues with the Ukrainian side, not avoiding difficult topics such as the need to restore the exhumation and Christian burial of the victims of the Volhynian crime. He added that he had received assurances that there would be progress in this matter.

– We are friends as a country and as ministers, friends. We talk about everything, including difficult matters. We must tell the truth about the Volhynian crime, as well as about other mutual acts. And at the same time choose a common, safe future. We are ready to discuss this – Sikorski stated.

As he assessed, “the issue of exhuming the victims of the Volhynian crime should not be treated as a political matter or the subject of some kind of bargaining”. – 100 thousand people died. The remains of these people demand a Christian burial. This is an obligation, not a political issue. This is part of the European canon of values, to which Ukraine belongs – he added.
