A 31-year-old man was detained in the case of charred corpses found in Radoszowice (Opolskie Voivodeship). Initially, the man was charged with involuntary manslaughter, but over the course of the investigation, the qualification was changed to homicide. – The suspect brought a container of gasoline and spilled the liquid next to the knocked out man. He then set her on fire with a previously smoked cigarette, prosecutors said. The man was arrested.

The case concerns the death of a 41-year-old man whose the charred corpse was found by a local road near Niemodlin. The police detained 31-year-old Paweł R. He was drunk at the time of the arrest. After sobering up, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

According to Stanisław Bar, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole, as a result of the suspect’s report, as well as subsequent findings of the investigation, the investigator changed the qualification of the alleged act to homicide.

According to the prosecutor’s findings, Paweł R. drank alcohol with the victim at their mutual friend’s house. At some point there was a quarrel between them, the men began to reminisce about the past.

– It was already on the property in front of the house. At one point, the suspect punched the injured man at least three times in the face, and when he fell down and lost consciousness, R. went to his property, brought a container of gasoline and spilled the liquid next to the knocked out man. Then he set her on fire with a previously smoked cigarette. In this way, the victim’s clothing became entangled, resulting in – as it turned out later – a fatal burn – says Bar.

The suspect denies the murder. He is sentenced to life imprisonment for his crime.
