Rafał Trzaskowski and Radosław Sikorski – fighting for votes in the Civic Coalition primaries. Marcin Kierwiński comments

On Saturday, the PO national board unanimously decided to organize primary electionswhich will select the candidate of the Civic Coalition in the presidential elections in 2025. The mayor of Warsaw will take part in them Rafał Trzaskowski and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. In the primary elections, a common candidate of the Civic Coalition will be selected, i.e. not only PO, but also Nowoczesna, Inicjatywa Polska and the Greens.

Prime minister Donald Tusk reported that the primaries will probably be held on November 23 via electronic voting. The winner will present their program on December 7 in Silesia.

He commented on the pre-election situation in the Civic Coalition in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 Marcin Kierwiński from the Civic Coalition, government representative for post-flood reconstruction. He was asked who his favorite was in this race.

– I am the person who is supposed to organize this electoral process, as the person supervising the National Office (of the Civic Platform – ed.), so if you allow me, I will not canvass here today. I can say that in these matters I am very, very consistent in my instructions, he said to the presenter.

He added that “there is no doubt” that Sikorski and Trzaskowski will fight a “knight's duel.” – Yesterday, the gentlemen on the national board declared that they would focus on what is most important, on winning the elections with PiS. Regardless of which of them wins this internal fight, the goal is known. We must defeat the PiS candidate, we must restore normality in Poland, he added.

The TVN24 guest also talked about the activities of Antoni Macierewicz in the context of the assessment that the team appointed at the Ministry of National Defense gave to the Smolensk subcommittee, which was headed by the PiS politician for years.

– If we think about Macierewicz, we already see lies, fraud, siphoning off huge amounts of money. I hope that one of the next votes in the Polish Sejm will be the lifting of Macierewicz's immunity and that he will finally stand before a Polish court and answer for what he has been doing for many years – he said.

According to Kierwiński, the former head of the Ministry of National Defense “harassed and divided Polish society, but in fact he led to an unprecedented anarchization of public life.” – This is the man who has harmed Poland most internally and externally over the last 30 years – said the TVN24 guest.

Kierwiński also talked about the situation related to removing the effects of the flood that hit southwestern Poland in September. – For now, we are still at this initial stage. Today we do what is most important. the most important thing is to pay benefits to families, victims of this cataclysm, he said.

He said that so far over one billion three hundred million zlotys have been paid. These are funds from the state budget's special purpose reserve for counteracting and removing the effects of natural disasters and protecting the population.

– I have been in flood areas in recent days. I also met with the directors of OPS (Social Welfare Centers – ed.) in the most devastated towns to speed up this process (benefit payments – ed.). I have strong declarations here from both the Voivode of Opole and the Voivode of Lower Silesia that this process will simply accelerate – he assured.

– In parallel, of course, we are rebuilding critical infrastructure. For example, I talked to the mayor of Stroń. I think that funds for sewage renovation will be transferred at the beginning of this week. And next year we will start a large target investment with government money – he added.

At the same time, Kierwiński admitted that there are still elements of the infrastructure that have not been repaired. – Now, for example, Polish Waters has received an additional financial injection – PLN 82 million to regulate the river beds that have flooded – he said. – Thanks to the determination of people and the great diligence of the army, these areas look better and better every day. And they will look good when we complete the entire reconstruction process, added the government representative.
