Trzaskowski: Putin's victory will be received as a sign of US weakness
Trzaskowski also interviewed Bloomberg TV.
– Our task is to explain the new American administration that if Putin sells the result (conversations – ed.) As his victory, it will weaken not only Europe's security, not only Poland's security, but also the security of the United States of America. Because everyone in the world will interpret this as a sign of weakness and trouble in the alliance between Europe and the United States of America – said the President of Warsaw and the presidential candidate.
Trzaskowski compared this to the signs of the weakness that President Joe Biden was withdrawn from Afghanistan for the Russians and whom Trump himself condemned.
In response to the suggestion that Americans “seem to speak more than listen”, the president of Warsaw said that Trump's administration “is known for releasing test balloons and checking the ground”, but he pointed out that “reality is sometimes different”.
– I am an eternal optimist, and my task is to negotiate and attempt to convince others that our security, our joint security is the most important – he noted.
When asked if, in the face of JD Vance's speech in Munich, he was afraid of attempts to interfere in the upcoming elections in Poland, Trzaskowski stated that it would only hurt a side receiving such support.
– We are a very proud nation, so if anyone tells us how to vote, it is completely counterproductive. And taking into account what Elon Musk said at a rally of AfD that Germany can forget about their wine, now this kind of interference would be a kiss of death for every political party in Poland – he said.
