The National Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday that charges had been brought against two more individuals in connection with irregularities at the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves – Michał K. and Paweł Szopa (Szopa's defense attorney agreed to use the client's full name and image; K.'s attorney did not agree and does not comment on the case). This concerns the former president of the agency during the PiS government and the creator of the Red is Bad clothing brand. It added that “the whereabouts of the suspects in the country are unknown, which made it impossible to perform procedural activities involving them”. At the request of the prosecutor, the court decided to temporarily arrest Michał K., which will allow him to be prosecuted under an arrest warrant.
The investigation into irregularities at RARS was initiated in December 2023. The subject of the investigation concerns the abuse of power and failure to fulfill duties by employees of this agency when organizing and processing the purchase of goods, and thus acting to the detriment of the public interest.

“Operation evacuation”
– This is a huge problem for Law and Justice – said Urszula Pasławska, vice-president of the Polish People's Party, in “Fakty po Faktach”, when asked about the scandal surrounding the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves.
– This is an element of the entire system that has been shown in recent years, including by TVN journalists. We also see such an action, an evacuation, that has been accompanying politicians and people associated with PiS for months – added the TVN24 interviewee, referring to the fact that the prosecutor's office failed to determine the suspects' whereabouts.
– But I am glad that the services are working – she emphasized.

Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic, vice-chair of the Left, was asked whether Law and Justice has reason to “feel trapped.”
She replied that “if you embezzled some public money, if you ordered generators or respirators for the reserve agency, if you made money without any concern for standards or even against the law, if you disregarded all rules and standards and treated public money as private, then it is difficult for the gentlemen from PiS or Solidarna Polska not to face the consequences today.”
– I think that this time of chaos is simply ending – said Kucharska-Dziedzic.
