Policemen from Rawicz (Greater Poland Voivodeship) detained a serial thief. The 38-year-old was stealing steel fence barriers and wooden balustrade fillings from the animal crossing on the S5 road.

A 38-year-old resident of the Góra commune broke into a company in Masłów in Podrawicki several days earlier, where the stolen items were estimated at about PLN 30,000. A few days later, he stole 200 liters of fuel from a private property in Gołaszyn.

He was also charged with breaching a court-ordered driving ban for driving while under the influence of drugs. – In the previous case, the prosecutor applied police supervision and a property surety to the 38-year-old, but the man did not comply with any of these preventive measures – explains Asp. staff. Beata Jarczewska, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Rawicz.

On the night of March 12-13, the man committed further crimes. This time, on the expressway near Wydartów II in the Bojanowo commune, he stole steel fence barriers and wooden balustrade fillings from the animal crossing.

– He dismantled these elements over a distance of 70 meters. In addition, he broke into a weather station nearby, stealing a gel battery from it, Jarczewska reported.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways estimated the losses at around PLN 18,000.

– The perpetrator will also be responsible for the fact that around the same time he made a similar theft on the S5 road near Leszno, where the losses due to his disassembly of the elements of the animal crossing were estimated at about PLN 20,000 – explains Jarczewska.

On the occasion of committing these crimes, the man once again violated the court’s driving ban.

By court decision, the 38-year-old was arrested for three months. – There are many indications that he will be staying in prison walls for a long time. He is facing up to 10 years in prison, concludes Jarczewska.
