RCB Alert. High risk of forest fires

In many places in Poland, the fire hazard in forests is at a high level. The worst situation is in the center and in the north of the country, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management informed. Alerts were sent to the inhabitants of some poviats in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Mazowieckie voivodships by the Government Security Center.

The Government Security Center announced an alert for part of the province warmińsko-mazurskie and mazowieckie. “ATTENTION! Today and tomorrow (7/8.06) there is a high forest fire hazard. Be careful and do not use open fire in the forest and its vicinity” – it was written in the sent SMS messages.

RCB Alert was addressed to people residing in the province. mazowieckie, in the Żuromin poviat, as well as in the province of warmińsko-mazurskie, in the districts: Działdowo, Nidzicki and Szczytno.

IMGW: the situation in the north of the country is deteriorating

According to the map of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the risk of forest fires in many places, especially in the central part of the country, was at an extremely high level. They have also been recorded along the coast. It will be almost the same on Thursday.

“The situation in the northern half of the country in terms of fire risk is gradually deteriorating,” he wrote on Wednesday afternoon IMGW on Twitter. It added that “recent rainfall has improved the situation in the south.”

The forest fire hazard forecast is generated 24- and 48-hours in advance from March 1 to October 31. Calculations are made on the basis of data obtained from the WRF METEOPG model with a spatial resolution of 2.5 kilometers, informs IMGW.
