Colonel Konrad Korpowski, director of the Government Center for Security, has resigned, confirmed the head of the information policy department of RCB Damian Duda. As he noted, the resignation has not yet been accepted. Recently adopted by the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers, the draft law on the protection of the population and on the state of natural disaster, which was prepared by the Ministry of Interior and Administration, assumes the liquidation of the RCB.

Information about the resignation of the director of the RCB was previously announced by Interia.

Colonel Korpowski, an experienced special forces soldier, was appointed director of RCB in November 2020. The spokesman for the RCB has not yet provided information on the reasons for the director’s resignation.

RCB reports to the Prime Minister. Its tasks include coordinating the process of preventing crises, and in the event of their occurrence – coordinating the process of minimizing their effects. RCB provides, among others, services to the Government Crisis Management Team, supervises the protection of critical infrastructure, but also monitors threats and warns residents against them using RCB Alerts.

Recently adopted by the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers, the draft law on the protection of the population and on the state of natural disaster, which was prepared by the Ministry of Interior and Administration, assumes the liquidation of the RCB. In the opinion of project promoters, the Center does not meet expectations in the field of crisis management. The project assumes that some of the RCB’s tasks, including alerting about threats, will be taken over by the State Duty Service established at the Ministry of Interior and Administration. The proposal has not yet been accepted by the government.

Big changes to RCB alerts. They are to be subordinate to the Ministry of Interior and Administration and arrive much faster
