Recruitment for studies 2023/2024. Where can you earn the most money?

Recruitment for most Polish universities begins in June. This year’s high school graduates have until July to decide which major they will study. It may be helpful to list those fields of study whose graduates can count on very good earnings immediately after obtaining the diploma. This is examined by the nationwide system of monitoring the Economic Fate of University Graduates (ELA).

Many Polish universities have already started recruitment for higher education, which will last until July. For example, at the University of Warsaw, recruitment started on June 6 and will last until July 7, at the Jagiellonian University and the University of Wrocław, it will start on June 1 and will last until July 9 and 10, respectively, at the Adam Mickiewicz University Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań began on June 1 and will last until July 11, while at the University of Lodz it has been running since May 5 and will end on July 7.

A significant number of this year’s high school graduates are thinking about choosing the best field of study. So let’s remind you which directions you can earn the most.

What degree earns the most money?

According to the latest information available in the nationwide system for monitoring the Economic Fate of University Graduates (ELA), graduates of the Executive Master of Business Administration at the University of Economics in Wrocław can count on the highest earnings immediately after graduation – PLN 20,803.37 gross (part-time, 2nd degree). The following places are taken by IT majors from the Jagiellonian University and Wrocław University (part-time, second-cycle) and the Warsaw University of Technology (part-time, second-cycle) and Gdańsk (full-time, second-cycle), whose gross earnings range from 14.7-16.5 thousand zloty.

Due to the fact that these rates do not take into account the situation on the local labor market and the cost of living, ELA suggests using relative earnings and unemployment rates, which better reflects the actual professional situation of graduates. In this case, however, people who graduated from the Executive Master of Business Administration and IT majors at the Gdańsk and Warsaw Universities of Technology and at the Jagiellonian and Wrocław Universities still perform best.

As for the unemployment rate, graduates of art education in the field of fine arts at the Academy of Special Education in Warsaw, nursing at the Karkonosze State Higher School in Jelenia Góra and transport at the Kielce University of Technology should find a job without any problems.

Situation of graduates in particular fields of education

On the other hand, when it comes to the situation of graduates in particular fields of education, it is among the majors humanities the highest earnings are achieved by graduates of art history at the University of Warsaw – PLN 7,992.94 gross. In the field of science engineering and technical they are graduates of applied computer science at the Warsaw University of Technology – 15,437.66 thou. zlotyin the field medical and health sciences are graduates of nursing at the State Higher Vocational School in Legnica – PLN 9,517.39from the area agricultural sciences are graduates of forestry from the University of Environmental Management in Tuchola – PLN 8,670.12from the field exact and natural sciences are graduates of applied computer science at the Jagiellonian University – PLN 16,517.93from the field social sciences is the already mentioned Executive Master of Business Administration course in Wrocław, in the field of theological sciences is the theology of the Pontifical University John Paul II in Cracow – PLN 5,476.56 and from the field art are graduates of graphics at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź – PLN 6,204.71.

Graduates without work experience

If we take into account only graduates of full-time studies who had no experience on the labor market before obtaining their diploma, those who have completed master’s studies in engineering and data analysis at the Warsaw University of Technology are doing best after graduation – they will earn PLN 10,057.75 gross and will be looking for a job for less than 2.5 months. In second place are graduates of ICT from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (PLN 9,942.58 gross, job search time is 0.69 months), and in third place graduates of applied IT also at AGH (PLN 9,866.07 gross, job search time is 0.43 months).

New majors at Polish universities

For the 2023/2024 academic year, many Polish universities have decided to introduce new fields of study. At the University of Warsaw, for example, nanoengineering, biophysics, cybersecurity, cultural policy and management in culture or public policy. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality was created at the University of Gdańsk, as well as Japanese studies and the art of creative writing. At the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, medical chemistry with drug design, hydrology, meteorology and climatology appeared, climate change Earth or geoslavic studies. In turn, at the University of Wrocław there will be, among others, medical molecular biotechnology, Eastern European Jewish Studies, e-business law or ethics. The Jagiellonian University, in turn, prepared electroradiology and Ukrainian philology.
