Only this week we informed you about several dangerous accidents at railroad crossings. Every year, dozens of people die in such cases. Many accidents could be avoided if drivers were due to care or intentionally did not violate the rules.
If everything lasted only a few seconds longer, the train would hit the car standing at the railroad crossing. At the last moment he managed to tow him beyond the track. In this very dangerous and dynamic situation, two people were hit, but fortunately harmlessly.
– Nothing happened to these people. Thanks to the immediate reaction of the witness, the tragedy was avoided – informs Sergeant. Edyta Daroch from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Piotrków Trybunalski.
When the 28-year-old passed through the tracks in Stara Wieś near Piotrków Trybunalski, the car suddenly went out. Witnesses started with help. One of them first tried to start the car, and when it failed, he fastened the tow rope into his car. At that time, a signaling device warned against the oncoming train has already started, and the dams began to fall.
Drivers contribute to many dangerous situations at the journeys
– These are random events, it happens. But remember: let's leave the vehicle, this is just a thing. The most important is our health and life – appeals Andrzej Janicki, a former expert in the field of road accidents.
As numerous recordings show, unfortunately the drivers themselves contribute to many dangerous situations at the journeys.
– When we have a red pulsating signal, after eight seconds the road dam is just starting to close, so we really have a lot of time – indicates Arkadiusz Kuzio from the Road Safety Academy.
Even the abandoned dam did not stop the driver from Świebodzin before continuing to drive straight under the train, which – literally – may not be noticed.
– You can say that he was going in a “tanker” style. He only had tiny visors he tried to look through. (…) He underestimated the preparation of the car for the road – says senior asp. Marcin Ruciński from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Świebodzin.
The impact force was powerful – the engine was pulled out of the car. In an accident, although he looked very dangerous, they were not injured.

There are plenty of examples of lack of caution on railroad crossings
A very similar situation took place just over a month ago at a crossing near Ozimek in the Opole region. There, the driver also entered the side of the oncoming train. On the recording from the accident you can see that he brake only just before the blow. There was no dam at the crossing, but there were red lights.
– There will be some people who will explain that it is too poor visibility, that this journey has been improperly marked. I would absolutely disagree with this point of view. This aspect of security, when it comes to infrastructure, marking, visibility, is really well -kept – indicates Zbigniew Korytnicki, former head of the Road Traffic Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Gdańsk.
One more situation took place this week. On Friday in Nowa Wieś Ełcka, the truck entered the train on an unguarded railway crossing.

– The 59 -year -old truck driver probably did not stop in front of the “stop” sign – says the horseshoes. Tomasz Markowski from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Olsztyn.
The impact was so strong that it threw the driver out of the cab. He was hospitalized. Nothing happened to the train passengers.

Despite the numerous appeals, in the last decade every year on journeys there were from one hundred and several dozen to more than 200 accidents, in which several dozen people died – drivers and pedestrians. Only in 2024 as many as 49.
– Whether we are pedestrians or are drivers, depends a lot on ourselves. This is not only the introduction of new tariffs, exacerbating these regulations – indicates Klaudia Podkalicka, a rally driver.
– We also often see that despite the red signal, the drivers do not stop, because the tolls, they see, are raised, believe that they will manage to succeed, that everything will be fine. Often, unfortunately, this is not the case – says Andrzej Janicki.
Red light is a signal to stop
The police once again remind you that the red light blinking before traveling is a signal for absolute stop, regardless of whether the train is just coming or just passing. When it blinks red and the dams fall or start to rise – we just don't go.
– Entering the railway crossing when the red signal is broadcast, and when the dams are raised or lowered, two different offenses. These are offenses, where for each of them we have 15 penalty points, and unfortunately a penalty above 1000 zlotys – so 2000 and 1500 – informs nadkom. The financial penalty is even higher for the driver who will commit an offense under recidivism. – Recidice in this case, i.e. committing the same act in two years, is a double punishment – indicates Tomasz Bratek.
Railway crossings are one of the best monitored places on Polish roads – police and experts remind. – I will not say that the driver's face, but Conajmiej registration numbers are really visible – says Zbigniew Korytnicki.
It is enough to find the perpetrator of the offense and punish strictly.
