Holding a referendum on migrants on the date of the parliamentary elections is about huge amounts of money. It’s about the money, because the referendum campaign will have no limits – Dariusz Joński, a member of the Civic Coalition, said in the Sejm on Friday. – Do you already know the names of fat cats from state-owned companies that will make transfers for the referendum campaign – Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz, a KO MP, asked the governing party.

On Friday, the Sejm adopted an amendment to the Act on the National Referendum, which is to enable the referendum to be held on the same day as the parliamentary, presidential or European Parliament elections by, above all, standardizing voting hours, i.e. from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In June, the president of PiS Jaroslaw Kaczynski declared that the issue of relocation of migrants in the European Union must be put to a referendum. The intention to hold the referendum together with the parliamentary elections scheduled for autumn was confirmed by the prime minister on Monday Mateusz Morawiecki.

Joński: you want to hide expenses for the actual election campaign

Dariusz Joński, a member of the Civic Coalition, stated during a parliamentary speech on Friday that “people in Poland are wondering why PiS is holding a referendum if it is not needed.” – Why is PiS holding a referendum on the date of the parliamentary elections? It’s a referendum campaign. It’s a lot of money, he said.

– In short, it’s about money, because the referendum campaign will be without limits. Anyone can contribute, any institution, any state-owned company will be able to get involved. We have all seen how people from PiS state-owned companies financed the campaign of PiS politicians in the last elections to the European Parliament and Parliament. Huge millions of zlotys, a huge stream of money went to campaigns – he said.

It is about the findings of tvn24.pl journalist Grzegorz Łakomski and Dariusz Kubik from the editorial office of “Czarno na Białe”, who analyzed the financing of the election campaigns of PiS candidates in the last elections to the European Parliament. A significant part of these campaigns was financed by persons holding managerial positions in government-dependent companies and state institutions dependent on PiS. The results of the journalistic investigation can be seen in reports “In company with PiS. Parakampania” and “In partnership with PiS. Mine of interests”.

Joński said that “here, during the referendum campaign, it will be done without the control of the National Electoral Commission.” – And that’s what it’s all about. You want to hide expenses for the actual election campaign. It will be the biggest breakthrough in the history of the European Union. But I want to be very clear: we will also check that,’ he declared.

Gasiuk-Pihowicz: how much should the PiS club of millionaires pay for the referendum campaign?

Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz, MP from the Civic Coalition, also raised the issue of campaign financing from the Sejm tribune. – What is the real purpose of combining the election campaign with the referendum and is it not a coincidence that it is possible to illegally finance the election campaign – she asked.

– I have a few questions for the authors of the project, for President Kaczyński, Prime Minister Morawiecki. Do you already know the names of fat cats from state-owned companies that will make transfers for the referendum campaign? Who will take first place on this list? Are you (Sylwia) Sobolewska, millionaire (Małgorzata) Sadurska, or maybe one of your friends (Zbigniew) Ziobro or (Jack) Sasin, she said.

Gasiuk-Pihowicz: how much should the PiS club of millionaires pay for the referendum campaign?

– How much should the club of PiS millionaires pay for the referendum campaign and are there any arrangements regarding minimum payments? Will it be 30 or 40 thousand zlotys? Which foundations will you involve in the campaign? The ones from the villa of (Przemysław) Czarnek, from Bąkiewicz or from Kukiz? she asked.
