The findings of “Gazeta Wyborcza” show that the apartment of the Law and Justice MEP Joachim Brudziński in Warsaw’s Powiśle district was renovated by Polski Holding Hotelowy, which is a state-owned company. “The director asked for your OK so that she could go to the apartment,” the president of the Holding wrote to the politician. “Of course, let him go,” replied the MEP. Members of the Civic Coalition tried to determine who paid for it. Material of the magazine “Polska i Świat”.

Near the Sejm, in the prestigious and not cheap Warsaw district of Powiśle, a few years ago an apartment was bought by the vice-president of Law and Justice, the current MEP, Joachim Brudziński.

The apartment is a 132-meter apartment, which had to be renovated before the pandemic – as reported by “Gazeta Wyborcza” – the MEP did not do it alone.

– The director who carried out these works contacted the contractors who performed various renovations at the Polski Holding Hotelowy, and she did so at the request of the president of Gheorghe Marian Cristescu – says Wojciech Czuchnowski, journalist of “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

Correspondence of the president of PHH with Brudziński

The point is not that the politician himself rolled up his sleeves and drew a trowel, but that journalists found detailed correspondence, where the role of renovation supervisors and interior designers was played by the president and technical director of the State Treasury company – Polski Holding Hotelowy.

“Hi Joachim, the director has prepared preliminary projections, one with furniture in the children’s rooms, the other without. She asked for your OK so that she can go to the apartment and calculate these walls. I know that she is in constant contact with the boys (original spelling – ed. )” – he was to write to MEP Gheorghe Marian Cristescu.

“Of course, let her go whenever she feels like it and has time. Ask her, my friend, if this concept of ‘cutting out’ the bedroom from the living room is not good in your opinion? I would also like to leave the entrance to this smaller bathroom as it is, because on the wall on which you Agnieszka?? I propose now the door we want to put Jagienka’s piano 🙂 (original spelling – ed.)” – wrote Joachim Brudziński.

“OK, we’re working, he’ll go to the boys today. As for the layout of the living room, I understood that according to the original version, only 60 cm doors would fit, which would make it very difficult to use them (original spelling – ed.)” – indicates the president of Polski Holding Hotelowy.

– We do not know who paid for it, but we know for sure that Polski Holding Hotelowy participated in these renovation works, even in terms of management and design – says Wojciech Czuchnowski.

Comments of politicians

Politicians from Platforma Obywatelska decided to check why the president of a state-owned company is responsible for the MEP’s bathroom, cutting out the bedroom from the living room and space for Jagienka’s piano.

– There is no settlement between MEP Brudziński and the company regarding the famous renovation. There is no order or invoice – says Marcin Kierwiński from Platforma Obywatelska.

E-mail correspondence indicates that Joachim Brudziński knows the president of the Holding well, the president of Critescu is very involved in the renovation, and the technical and investment director, Agnieszka Łebska, acts here as a contractor of official orders, which he treats as a priority.

– The director claims that it was her private initiative. There are no indications that there was any personal relationship between her and MEP Brudziński – says Paweł Poncyliusz from Platforma Obywatelska.

Predictably, the party stands firmly behind the vice president. – I do not know that this case took place – says Marcin Horała, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. – This article, apart from some e-mails, it is not known where and how obtained, does not provide any evidence of this – he adds.

Journalists assure that they checked the metadata of the e-mails. – There is no doubt that they are authentic, that they came from the domains they came from at the time they were written and by those people who were the authors. There was no interference with the content of these e-mails – assures Wojciech Czuchnowski.

Statement of the President of Polski Holding Hotelowy

Polski Holding Hotelowy in a statement claims that this is the revenge of one of the former employees who is harassing the staff and threatens to disclose compromising materials, so the company “will not conduct further public discussions based on fabricated documents and false information distributed by a completely unreliable person”.

“We read this as a political attack that fits in with the image of false propaganda regarding all important projects implemented by state-owned companies” – added.

MEP Joachim Brudziński, a journalist of “Gazeta Wyborcza” who is facing a lawsuit, and reporters from “Poland i Świat” wanted to give him the opportunity to comment on the allegations in front of the camera. Despite repeated attempts, he did not answer the phone.
