The Koalicja Polska – Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe club has submitted a motion to shorten the term of office of the Sejm. The leader of the party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, said on Sunday in Brodnica that the peasantry was “ready to vote”. – We are going our own way, independent of total opposition and total power. We are not mercenaries and slaves, ‘he said. – Of course, for the good of Poland, we will cooperate – assured the head of the PSL.
The President of the Polish People’s Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, came on Sunday to Brodnica (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship) for the provincial congress of the party’s delegates. He recalled there that the KP-PSL club had submitted a motion to shorten the parliamentary term.
– We are ready for the elections. We believe that it is necessary to restore social peace in Poland after the elections, give a dignified place in the European Union, stop the degradation of Polish agriculture, and carry out a reform of education and health protection. That’s why we do it – he explained.
PSL leader: we are not suitable as mercenaries and slaves
The head of the peasants emphasized that his party was in favor of the decentralization of the state. In his opinion, citizens should be able to deal with the most important matters close to each other.
– We are going our own way, independent of total opposition and total power. We are not fit to be a mercenary or slave. We come from free farmers who took matters into their own hands. Of course, for the good of Poland, we will cooperate – he said.
He decided that it was a mistake to propose opposition parties to run in the Sejm elections in one block. In his opinion, there should be two such blocks. – We are convinced that it is impossible to change the behavior of the current PiS government towards the European Union and our neighbors. That’s why you have to change the government. This government is genetically conditioned to quarrels on the international arena – said Kosianiak-Kamysz.
Shortening the term of office of the Sejm
The Sejm may shorten its term of office by a resolution adopted by a majority of at least 2/3 of the votes of the statutory number of deputies. Shortening the term of office of the Sejm means a simultaneous shortening of the term of office of the Senate.
Pursuant to the constitution, the term of office of the Sejm may not be shortened during the state of emergency and within 90 days after its end, national referendums may not be held, elections to the Sejm, Senate, local self-government bodies and elections of the president may not be held, and the terms of office of these bodies are subject to the appropriate extension.
