Already today there will be an attempt to land on the Moon Rover Resilience from the Japanese company ISPACE. Two years ago, a similar mission carried out by this private entity ended in failure – the machine crashed.

The Japanese company ISPACE intends to try to land on the moon with its unmanned spacecraft again on Thursday. Resilience, the second lunar lander of a private company from Tokyo, is to land on Mare Frigoris, the Moon Sea located about 900 kilometers from the north pole of the moon, at 4.17 in the morning on Friday's local time after an hour's descent from the lunar orbit. There will be 21.17 in Poland.

Representatives of ISPACE thus hope to join other American companies, such as Intuitive Machines or Firefly Aerospace, which have made commercial landings on the moon.

The previous mission failed

In 2023, the first lander from ISPACE crashed into the surface of the moon due to inaccurate recognition of its height. The company announced that in the case of the Thursday mission program remedies were implemented, while the construction of the equipment in Resilience remained mostly unchanged.

Resilience is transporting a four -wheeled rover, built by the Luxembourg subsidiary ISPACE and loads with a total value of $ 16 million, including scientific instruments of Japanese companies and the Taiwanese university.

If the landing is successful, a 2.3 meter high lander and a microwave-size rover will begin 14-day exploratory activities to the arrival of a frosty lunar night, including capturing images of regolite, fine-grained material from the surface of our natural satellite.
