The Solidarity legislative initiative, which introduces seniority pensions, has gained over 235,000 signatures. – Citizens’ projects have their importance, so this initiative is worth considering. We know that there are many people who would like to take advantage of this solution, said Stanisław Szwed, Deputy Minister of the Family.
In the draft prepared by Solidarity, it was proposed that the seniority pension would be granted to people born after December 31, 1948, who had reached the contributory and non-contributory period of 35 years for women and 40 years for men. The internship pension would be due provided that its amount determined using the so-called the defined contribution formula is not lower than the minimum old-age pension.

Deputy Minister Szwed referred to this initiative in an interview with PAP. He assured that the government takes citizens’ projects very seriously.
– Citizens’ projects are important because they collect at least 100,000 people. signatures. It is worth considering this project. We know that there are many people in this age group who would like to use this solution – said the Swede.
At the same time, he noted that such a solution “is always at the expense of the future pensioner, who may therefore have a lower benefit”. – But it is worth working on – emphasized the deputy minister.
At the Thursday press conference, the head of “S” Piotr Duda emphasized that from the very beginning, retirement pensions were and will be a very important project for Solidarity, complementing the entire pension system in Poland.
He called on all parliamentarians to look into this project “responsibly and seriously, and not in a political manner”.
“I especially appeal to the parliamentarians of the United Right. This project should be a very important element of the Polish Order, and it has not happened” – pointed out Duda.
At the end of May, the spokesman of the President of the Republic of Poland, Błażej Spychalski, announced that work on the project on retirement pensions was also underway at the Chancellery of the President.
Submitting a project as a citizens’ initiative
To submit a project to the Sejm as a civic initiative, you need to collect at least 100,000. signatures within three months from the date of the decision of the Marshal of the Sejm to accept the notification on the establishment of the committee. Then the signatures are verified. If the formal requirements are met, the first reading of a bill is carried out at the sitting of the Sejm within 3 months from the date of submission of the bill to the Marshal.
