Commencement of construction of the agglomeration ring road of Warsaw, expansion of railway networks and expansion of Chopin Airport. Such plans for the capital were presented on Wednesday by the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, on the occasion of summing up the ministry's year of work.
– The commencement of the construction of the agglomeration bypass of the Warsaw metropolis, which many people and the Polish economy are waiting for, is a very important investment challenge. This is also an extension of the railway network with new routes and we have such a plan prepared – said Dariusz Klimczak.

There are plans to expand airports
He also included the reform of civil aviation as a challenge. – We intend to change the functioning of the Civil Aviation Office, following the example of modern agencies that operate, for example, in Europe. This is also the expansion of airports. We need to generate appropriate traffic for the new, most modern airport in Europe – said Klimczak.
He added that within a few days the ministry will present plans for the expansion of Warsaw Chopin Airport. As the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure said, the ministry also faces legislative challenges.
– We are at the stage of developing the assumptions of the act regarding the improvement of the investment process. In Poland, investment processes take a long time and are therefore too cost-intensive and too burdensome not only for the entities that carry them out, but also for the administration and – above all – for those who are waiting for investments – said Klimczak.

The number of railway passengers increased
The Minister of Infrastructure announced that this year he expects the number of passengers transported by rail to increase to approximately 410 million, of which almost 80 million will be transported by PKP Intercity. Last year, 374.4 million people used rail services; of which PLN 68 million was allocated to PKP Intercity.
– This year, PKP Intercity exceeded last year's result already in November, and at the end of the year we expect almost 80 million passengers who used PKP Intercity. There will be approximately 410 million passengers in the entire railway traffic, Klimczak said.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka announced that at the end of next year the transhipment capacity of the grain terminal in Gdańsk will amount to 1.5 million tons, in 2026. it will be two million tons, and a year later it will increase to almost three million tons per year.
– We plan to allocate nearly half a billion zlotys in total to reloading equipment for this terminal, modernization of quays, and modernization of road and railway infrastructure in the coming years – said Marchewka. – For 2025, we have secured a record amount of over PLN 2 billion for the maritime economy, which is over 37 percent more than this year – he added.
What about the Central Communication Port?
Maciej Lasek, deputy minister of infrastructure, who was present at the conference, announced that offers in the tender for the construction of a tunnel under Łódź for high-speed railways will be opened this month.
He added that this month, during the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers, the multi-annual program for the Central Communication Port for 2024-2032 will be discussed. – This shows that the October 15 coalition government is very realistic about this investment, which is the construction of the Central Communication Port – he added.
– Next year, a record budget of nearly PLN 60 billion is planned for the ministry – announced Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Przemysław Koperski.
