IMWM hydrological warnings
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued hydrological warnings for many places in the country. The highest level warnings apply to the following provinces: Lower Silesia, Opole, Silesian, Lesser Poland, Greater Poland and Lodz.
“In connection with heavy rainfall, gradual increases in water levels are forecast in the catchment areas of the Odra tributaries to the high level zone and significant exceedance of alarm and local warning levels. Depending on the course of the meteorological situation, the largest increases in water levels may occur on 13/14.09 and 15.09 and will cover the catchment areas of Osobłoga, Nysa Kłodzka, upper Bóbr and Kwisa, as well as Oława, Ślęza, Bystrzyca and Kaczawa. In Korzeńsk on Orla and in Odolanów on Barycz, water levels will rise above the warning level and then above the alarm level. Water level increases are expected at the water gauges in the upper Warta and Liswarta catchment areas, initially to the high level zone with exceedances of warning levels and then also alarm levels. The greatest intensity of the phenomena will occur on 13-15.09. Local increases in water levels may be of a violent,” the statement said.
Second degree alarms in the west, south, east and central Poland, where river level increases are associated with rainfall moving from the south, concern the following voivodeships: Subcarpathian, Świętokrzyskie, Lodz, Masovian and Greater Poland“Water level increases are expected to reach high levels, including exceeding warning levels. Local increases to alarm levels are possible. Local increases in water levels may be sudden,” IMGW reported.
The second degree warning also applies to the Szczecin Lagoon (Szczecin Province). West Pomeranian). As we read, “in connection with the forecasted meteorological situation, water levels in the high-water zone, locally above warning levels, are predicted to increase in the Szczecin Lagoon and the mouth section of the Odra River.”
The first, lowest level alarms were announced for the province. Lublinwhere – as reported – river levels will rise, locally rapidly, and in places there is a possibility of exceeding warning levels. The first-degree warning also applies to the Vistula Lagoon and Żuławy (province). Pomeranian and Warmia-Masuria), where water levels are expected to increase to the high-level zone, but locally, warning levels may be exceeded, the Institute reported.
