The Road Traffic Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice has prepared a spot on the occasion of the World Day of Victims of Road Accidents, which warns drivers against violating basic safety rules. Officers ask questions and show how tragic consequences may be to ignore the rules on the roads. The film ends with a scene in the cemetery and a policeman saying: – Congratulations, you’re on your way to meet us here – with you and those you kill.

In the spot, there is a traffic policeman asking the following questions: “Do you think you’re driving fast but safe?”, “You say yellow is ripe green?”, “You’re saying it’s just beer?” The answers are frames with drastic examples of accidents or dangerous incidents on the roads of the region. The film was published on Sunday (November 21), because today is the World Road Traffic Victims Remembrance Day.

The spot ends with a scene in the cemetery where a policeman says: “Congratulations, you are on your way to meet us here – with you and those you kill.” There is also a board with the information that more than 2.7 thousand people die on Polish roads each year. people and the appeal “Do not kill”.

Publishing the spot on the Internet, the Silesian police reminded that there is a drama behind every accident. “It affects not only the injured, but also the perpetrators of the incidents and their relatives. When taking the road, always remember that our behavior, concentration, decisions made and compliance with road traffic regulations determines our safety and that of other road users” – emphasized in the release.


According to information from the police, in the first 10 months of this year there were 19,110 accidents across the country, killing 1,864 people. In 2020, 20,171 accidents were recorded at the same time, in which 2,804 people died. In 2019, there were 25,298 accidents and 2,435 people died on the roads.

For the first time, World Remembrance Day was celebrated in 1995 on the initiative of several associations, including the European Federation of Road Accident Victims – FEVR. In 2005, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution establishing the third Sunday in November as the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
