The board of the Independence March Association excluded Robert Bąkiewicz, until recently the head of this organization, from the group of members. In the resolution, the board members wrote that Bąkiewicz “undertook a number of actions to the detriment of the association”.

The resolution of the board is dated February 24. Six out of nine board members voted, and all were in favor of expelling Bąkiewicz.

As we read in the content of the resolution, Bąkiewicz “notoriously broke the statute, did not comply with the resolutions of the association’s authorities and did not participate in board meetings.” He was also to “take a number of actions to the detriment of the association.” In this context, “causing the loss of the possibility of obtaining 1.5 percent of the tax as a Public Benefit Organization for 2022, the association’s debt and disposing of the association’s assets without a resolution of the board” were mentioned.

On February 19, Bąkiewicz – by decision of the general assembly of members – stayed relieved of the chairmanship Independence March Association. He did not recognize the results of the vote. He wrote that “information about his dismissal is untrue, and the meeting was held against the statute and regulations of the association.”

Subsidies for Bąkiewicz

Public money flows in a wide stream to the organization of Robert Bąkiewicz. Related organizations: the Independence March Association, the National Guard Association and the Independence March Rota Association only until the end of 2021 received almost PLN 4 million from budget funds. The money was donated by the Institute of National Thought Heritage (PLN 3 million) and the National Freedom Institute (PLN 880,000).

In 2022, the National Guard and March of Independence associations were awarded another PLN 850 thousand as part of the project “Freedom in Polish – 2022 edition”.

The story of Robert Bąkiewicz, generously supported by government subsidies, and in the past a bankrupt entrepreneur, was presented by Artur Warcholiński in the report “Grace for a bankrupt”.
