What we knew about at the beginning of the year has happened. Robert Janowski is in again TVP and returned to hosting the game show “What's the tune?”. On Saturday afternoon, the station broadcast the first episode in years with his participation. Was the program better than the episode with Rafał Brzozowski? Certainly not. But it wasn't worse to watch either. After all, both hosts of the show are professionals and do their jobs well. And they sing well, which is useful in this type of production. But if someone had not turned on TVP in recent years, they would not have noticed any change. Well, maybe apart from the lack of an audience, because there still isn't one since the pandemic. I'd go so far as to say that the host is the least important in these types of shows. What matters here are the participants and the musical puzzles “one note at a time.”
This is how Robert Janowski's return to “Name That Tune?” was marked
The first episode with Robert Janowski was a special episode. It began with him singing one of Abba's hits with the vocalists. Of course, the return of the former host was emphasized. He entered spectacularly, emerging from the crowd of dancers with large white feathers that initially hid him. Fortunately, there were no unnecessary speeches. After the performance, he began walking around the studio, visibly moved, shaking everyone's hand, while the song “I Have a Dream” played in the background. The participants were celebrities. They appeared: Beata Olga Kowalska, Jacek Wojcicki and Darius Kordek. As is the case with special episodes, the level was not very high due to simple musical puzzles, which are always known to the stars. I prefer episodes without stars, but it is known that many viewers like situations in which they can watch the well-known and liked, so they should be satisfied.
It's worth giving the program a chance
Some people will probably say that rehiring Robert Janowski is like reheating cutlets. But since the cutlet was good, maybe it's worth giving him another chance and not writing him off? I certainly won't stop watching the show, because it's consistently good entertainment. And its host himself reminds us of the glory days TVP. After all, he hosted it in the 90s, when television was not associated with such negative connotations and did not arouse as many emotions as in recent years. It is possible, however, that the program will record a drop in viewership, because all productions are watched worse. However, it will not be Robert Janowski's fault, but the fact that some viewers have left TVP Jacek Kurski down TV Republic.
