Robert Szewczyk is the new president of Olsztyn

Robert Szewczyk defeated Czesław Małkowski in the elections for the president of Olsztyn. A member of the Civic Platform won 53.33% in the second round of elections. votes.

Małkowski won 46.67 percent votes. So far, the National Electoral Commission has announced the results of 97.11 percent electoral districts in Olsztyn (101 out of 104).

First elections after acquittal

KO candidate Robert Szewczyk he ran with the support of the current president, Piotr Grzymowicz (in office since 2009), who decided not to run for re-election.

Czesław Małkowski was arrested by the police on February 28, 2008 and after being charged with, among others, rape of a pregnant clerk – he was arrested. As a result of the referendum held in November that year, he lost his position. Then he ran as a candidate three more times – in 2010, 2014 and 2018 – each time losing in the second round to Grzymowicz. The local elections in 2024 are the first in which Małkowski ran after his final acquittal by the court.
