Robert Telus will become the new Minister of Agriculture. Who is Robert Telus?

Robert Telus, MP from Law and Justice, will replace Henryk Kowalczyk as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. Telus is the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.

President Andrzej Duda announced changes in the government during a conversation on radio Trójka. When asked whether the position of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development would be taken over by Robert Telus, the president replied in the affirmative.

Who is Robert Telus?

Robert Telus was an MP of the 6th, 7th and 8th term. He also performs the mandate of the MP of the current, 9th term. He was elected from constituency number 10 Piotrków Trybunalski. In the last election he got 27,254 votes.

Robert Telus is a member of the presidium of the Law and Justice parliamentary club. In 2021, he was appointed by the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Council of Political Advisors.

There is also e.g. chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.

Telus is a farmer by profession – according to the information posted on the Sejm’s website. Telus graduated from the Cracow University of Technology in 1996 and studied at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering.

The new Minister of Agriculture, in the last available asset declaration at the end of 2021, showed about PLN 360,000. zlotys of savings, which are marital property. PiS MP owns farms with a total value of approx. PLN, together with agricultural machinery. In a statement, Telus showed, among other things: agricultural tractor with a turn worth about 170 thousand. and a round baler worth about PLN 53,000. zloty.

As we read in the statement, Telus acquired about 140,000 in 2021. PLN of EU funds per farm.

In addition, the new Minister of Agriculture stated in a statement that in August 2019, he purchased 1.36 ha of arable land through a tender from the National Support Center for Agriculture.
