Difficult road conditions prevailed in the mountains in central and western Romania due to heavy snowfall. They were joined by strong winds that broke trees. More than 340 customers in Harghita district lost access to electricity.
Much snow fell on Sunday in the Harghita and Brasov districts in the central part of the country and in the Bihor district in the west. The media reported significant snowfall in the northern part of the first of these regions. In Băile Harghita, there was 10 centimeters of snow on some roads.
The National Road Infrastructure Authority (CNAIR) warned of difficult travel conditions. It was recalled that trucks should be equipped with chains. The roads are cleared of snow on a regular basis, but the services have appealed to drivers to check it weather forecasts before hitting the road.

In low-lying areas, roads were wet on Sunday with light rainfall occurring.
Strong wind also caused difficulties. Firefighters removed fallen trees, and in the Mărtiniș commune in Harghita county, 341 customers were left without access to electricity. Electricity was gradually restored to these households.
